AMERICAN BULLDOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
05 June 2008 20:16
Hi guys, does anyone here own an american bulldog?, How much did you pay for it? Im really interested in getting a male one but do not want a rescue dog (personal thing) i want a puppie. Anyone know how much they go for, where to get one from? How are they as pets, good with other animals / people? Viscious? Hard to train? Destructive ect, Thanks guys

Aren't they illegal in the UK now. Or is that the American Pitbull. If so what is the difference?

Used to have a Staffordshire, great dogs. Mind you I think the English Bulldog is about the ugliest dog going, bar maybe a Standard Poodle (the tall ones) PS, Just noticed as I posted that there was a doggie advert at the bottom of this screen. Do Google do a keyword analysis of a thread and link in appropriate adverts?

Them American Bulldogs are MASSIVE!! A guy on my street walks oneor should i say it walks him! Looks like a really nice dog though, the type of dog you wouldn't be ashamed of walking! I have phases where i want a dog, but then if i had one i would want a proper mans dog, big and beefy, but im too scared it would turn out nasty, im quite afraid of dogs, i got bit by one once, they can get real nasty but then again i suppose its how you bring em up, but they can sometimes be unpredictable me thinks..

You will pay upwards of £1800 for an English Bulldog, this is mainly the problems they have whelping and giving birth. However American's are slightly easier to breed with fewer problems Therefore do not pay any less then £800 per pup, any less and you are dealing with backyard breeders or puppy farms, both not good. Their temperament is not as dosile as the Engish's, but a dogs nature or temparement is in how its raised and the arena it raised in

I have a Bordeaux, that cost me £1250. American Bulldogs are quite popular at the moment and this always leads to the "stock" being of poor quality as a result of indiscriminate breeding Beware the cheapest may not be the best, if you walk in a house and it does not feel right walk straight back out

PS, Just noticed as I posted that there was a doggie advert at the bottom of this screen. Do Google do a keyword analysis of a thread and link in appropriate adverts? Yeh targeted advertising. The pick out key words and place appropriate adverts. You start a relationship thread and you will prob get a mail order bride advert!

Zara I hope your rescue experiences are more positive then mine. Some of the rules imposed are just plain crazy and seriously left me disillusioned about recommending a rescue. Before I got my DDB i had a English Bulldog and a bullmastiff The BD died so I sought to replace her immediately, with a junior/adult dog. My Bullmastiff was never chopped as the bulldog was neutered. So naturally I was looking for a large breed speyed bitch. I located a dane/mastiff cross bitch who was speyed and she was absolutely gorgeous Spoke with the rescue told them about my current dog. They turned me away because I would not neuter the BM. I had murder with them. Their dog was speyed and what I said was there was no way i was putting a 9yr BM under unecessary surgery. Anyone who knows dogs knows that a dog will only try to mount a neutered bitch as a dominance thing and in my experience the bitc.h will do it more then the dog. I therefore spent 1250 on the DDB and walked away

i have one and he's one of the best dogs i've ever had seriously. I'm a bit put off by your rescue comment though. Blue is a rescue dog as were my staffies which i had when i was younger (i was secretary of the scottish staffy rescue back then). I fail to see any reason for not considering a rescue dog really, as a responsible rescue society will always vet and match the best home to the best dog. ditto , a decent rescue centre like the one in my sig will tell you the dogs history and temprament.. my staffies are from the same place and there big softies..

Totally agree - one attack and virtually killed my patterdale/jack russell cross. She used to run a round and chase an american bulldog where I used to live which was so funny to watch. Little and large! ORIGINAL: R8V8KING Pitbulls are, differance is there fcukin EVIL LOL
