Ive been posting on this site a while although been busy of late with other things.
Theres alot of FF memerbs on here and like it or hate it FF is a huge franchise you cant't ignore. Do u reckon we could have a thread/sticky/sub forum dedicated to FF members?

whats your thoughts?

b!tch about the FF guys with cracking physiques here from your local club!
also xchange info on which FF clubs to go with fit girls and which ones to avoid

No we couldn't..... otherwise everyone would want one on something or other

Fitness firsts are awful! I actually like having more than 20kg dumbells in a gym. Ive been to about 6 and they have all been shoe boxes.

you've been in 6 bad ones then, mine is big (FF in gorton, manchester)
mine has DB's up to 50kg and the only kit they are missing is a 45 deg leg press... they only have a hammer strength leg press and another 2 life fitness ones which just isn't as good
squat rack, bench, dec bench, about 6 adjustable benches, x2 sets of DB's, chest supported row, low row, lat pulldowns, ivanko oly bars and pretty much every resistance machine you can think of life fitness and technogym upstairs
they have a boxing ring and some bags and a half decent boxing coach who's worked with some decent level people
free drinks
free fruit
free DVD rental
spin room
endless cardio kit
aerobics studio where they teach martial arts by a decent instructer who actually is bang into his weights
dry sauna
steam room
hot showers
clean changing rooms with hot showers
mine has a fair few accomplished athletes train there, an IFBB Pro sometimes, a Mr Universe, couple of power lifters, an olympic skier etc

it's not perfect but at the end of they day it's better than most hardcore gyms in manchester
not much more you could ask for @ £20 a month... apart from a 45 deg leg press and a seated calf raise would be nice

A muscle that's weak in isolation will be weak in integration.

Pathetic thread...

whats wrong with it (apart from the fit girls bit)?
we already know that the london FF are not too hot and Gorton and Chelmsford are at least OK
I think some people looking for a gym might find it useful, FF are a big chain pretty much everywhere would be good to see what people think of there own branch.

I think it should be a gym thread rather than fitness first. Where members list decent gyms where they live.

RE: Official Fitness First Thread - 05 June 2008 22:56
AK - think you will find that they only go up to 50kg! although I certainly do not see many lifting anywhere near that weight. Either way as you mention there is a vast offer at the Chelmsford and Basildon FF. I certainly have no issues with them as they clearly reach and satify a huge demand. Even the one is Southend is not to bad although the other two mentioned are better.

regards

The FF I go to only has dumbells up to 46kg, so stopped doing db rows! The free weights area is pretty small but I don't go in peak times so its not a problem.

We don't get free fruit though! Only coffee and pop.

They have free protein bar/drink samples out quite a bit so thats pretty good.

Also I got a free bad the other day because my mate asked how much they were and the bloke said he can have one so I got one as well!

Used to go to FF in Poole, Dorset - actually was a very well equipped club, plenty of free weights and DB's up to 50kg.

Was full of egos and didn't like the fact when they used to have to repair the floor around the free weights area they would close the area off rather than just repair it when the gym was closed so not to interrupt people who had come down to train

i laugh @ your FF tread!

all you ppl staying on your crappy running machines with your fancy iPods and brand new trainers while the tiny blokes struggle with their girly weights while wearing matching wrist and head sweat bands trying to look good in the small chance of getting noticed by the female counter parts.
