HIIT Vs SSCV
-
11 June 2008 15:18
Hey, I've recently started cutting, I'm now coming to the end of my 3rd day, and it's going well, but I'm wondering how much more effective HIIT is than SSCV, and should I implement more, and cut out the SSCV? As it goes it's currently like this: Monday: Full body workout Tuesday: SSCV Wednesday: HIIT Thursday: SSCV Friday: Full body workout Saturday: Rest Sunday: Rest Now, I've also only lost half a pound, I don't know really if a scales if an accurate measurement of fat loss as such, though I would expect on my 3rd day out of five I would of lost at least a pound? I'm looking to lose two pounds per week, so I'm wondering if I can alter the roster somewhat to make cardio more effective. Looking forward to replies, thanks in advance

More patience is needed. Monitor your weight/condition after another week or so.

ORIGINAL: stidge20 Yeah it's early doors, what's your diet like 6:00am Porridge oats, skimmed milk, flax seed tablet, multi vitamin 9:00am 2x Hard boiled egg 2x wholemeal bread 12:00am Omelette (Four eggs, tablespoon or so of olive oil) 1:00am Gym 3:00am (A tin of sardines/tuna/salmon/chicken) Two slices wholemeal bread 6:00am Varied protein meal, sometimes I have 2x slices of wholemeal bread, again, I was thinking I should cut that out and replace it with something else though

Firstly, why are you bothering weighing yourself after 3 days? Keep it till end of the week at least, I kept a print out every friday. Iv just lost 18lb in 6 weeks, My training as followed (note; early weeks 4lb, then slowed down to 3lb,2lb etc) mon - weights/HIIT tue - CV wed - weights/HIIT thur - CV fri - weights/HIIT sat - CV CV = 40/50mins You got to be very careful with CV, As i just wrote in another post ORIGINAL: crabby Nooooooooooooooooooo(i just noticed this) Ask your self a quick question. Who is leaner..........A sprinter? or a long distance runner? A spirnter of course. Do you see them doing hours a pun hours of cardio? Say you just start aerobic training, You can only last say 5minutes(example). As you get better and better, you increase your minutes. 5 minutes eventually turns into 10 minutes. 10 minutes eventually turns to 20 minutes, And so on. Will you get a lean sculpted body like that? The better you get your heart and lungs get stronger and stronger allowing you to do longer distances. how ever, as you do more and more aerobic training, as you get stronger, your body becomes better at utilizing your body fat which means you are burning less fat. I'll explain this; When you started it would take you 30minutes to burn calories and as you get stronger it takes 45minutes to burn 300 calories. now as you do more and more aerobic to burn the extra calories, your body will start tapping into your muscles for energy. the body can literally break down your muscle tissue to meet the energy demand. Your muscle tissue can be converted to glucose to supply your aerobic training. All this will come down to is a weaker metabolism.

Getting back on track; anyone who isn't prone to copy and pasting things can perhaps advice me whether or not it would be advisable to change my routine around? I don't want to get too deep into and realise that it's not working as good as something else might have.

Maybe so, I literally just got back from my HIIT session, I'm fairly unfit though but I thought I'd give it a go, it went like this: Five minute warm up 30 second sprint 50-60 second rest 30 second sprint 50-60 second rest 30 second sprint Ten minute cooldown (Walk home, I was intending to jog home, but by the third sprint I was nearly dead)

Not meaning to highjack the thread but didn't see the need to start another; Im currently doing: 23min HIIT after protein shake or breakie (depends how starving I am in the morn) (2min warm up, 3min cool down, 1 min fast, 1 min slower) 30min SS in the evening before bed (around 65%ish hr) I decided to keep my weights down to around 3 - 4 days a week and concentrate more on loosing fat with cardio. I can only do cardio on my exercise bike as my knee is due for an operation soon. My diet is 'the anabolic solution', which during the week I manage to follow easily, and only carb up for 12 hours as I seem to be really sensitive to carbs. Biggest problem I have is I drink 1 day a week but usually a LOT, which Im trying to sort out and reduce.

Check out the link below and then at go to part two (the link is at the bottom of the first article). OP - basically use both. SSCV and HIIT both have benefits. Use them both and cover all basis. Hope this helps. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/Trainingarticles/lylemcdonald-ste.html
