Too many Omega Acids?? Diet advice.. - 12 June 2008 21:15
Hi guys,
As i cant stand the thought of eating seafood i've decided to use supplements for my Omega 3, 6 and 9 needs..
i'm currently using:

1) Seven Seas - one a day pure cod liver oil
2) holland and barrat - omega 3,6 and 9 containing flaxseed, fish and starflower oil
3) organic flax seed oil

my cutting diet is as follows:

08:45 - 2 weetabix with milk, protein shake with water & pure cod liver oil capsule
11:30 - 1 apple and a handful of almonds
13:30 - 1 roast chicken breast with brown rice (sometimes i'll have it with brown pasta for variation) and vegetables (carrots, cucumber, lettuce, sweetcorn, tomatoes etc..) & holland & barrat's omega 3,6,9 capsule
16:00 - 1 banana & 2-3 oat cakes
19:30 - TRAINING FOR 1 HOUR (either weights or cardio)
20:45 - protein shake with water and dextrose powder & holland & barrat's omega 3,6,9 capsule
21:00 - Textured vegetable protein or quorn with vegetables
23:45 - Protein shake with milk before bed & 1 tablespoon of flax seed oil

I think my diet is quite good (for cutting), but i have a couple questions to ask:

1) Am i having way too much fatty acids in a day? If i am could this overconsumption actually increase my weight?
2) Are there any other tweaks i could be making to the diet suggested above?

I have been bulking for a while, want to now cut and trim around 1.5-2 stones of fat to become leaner. I weight 13 stones exactly and am around 6 feet tall.. Train with weights 3 times a week and cardio twice a week on days i'm not doing weights.. All and any feed back would be helpful..

thanks guys..

Milk, almonds & roast chicken breast contain omega-6 & 9 so you don't really need 3,6,9 capsules. Cod liver oil contains Vitamins A & D. Each capsule (if 1,000mg) contains 9kcals so 3 capsules a day are only 27kcals a day. A tablespoonful of flaxseed oil (12-15g) contains 108-135kcals.

If you want to get omega-3 with fewer kcals, try either 6-7 fish oil caps that contain 180mgEPA & 120mgDHA per day, or 3-4 fish oil caps that contain 330mgEPA & 220mgDHA per day.
