Uphill to the big 50 - 17 June 2008 00:30
Ok last month I was 49, so this journal I'm hoping I can keep going for the next 12 months to my 50th..that's if I even reach it lol!!!..ok the pics I'm going to pop on are me at what I considered to be my best, I was around 13/6 13/10 so 188 to 190 lb there or thereabouts my bodyfat I guestimated at the time to be around 10/12%..shortly after that I didn't step foot near a gym for 18 months 2 years due to a total house refurb and I mean total..I looked like an out of shape darts player..my son commented 5 or so months ago that I looked like a kebab shop owner..which brings me to where I am now..I've been back training for around 5 months..I'll get up to date pics posted tomorrow I hope, I certainly wasn't going to post any of my Peter Manley looka likey one's up..I'd like to get back to the shape I was in a few years ago and I'd be more than happy with that I've no ambitions to get huge my main goal is good condition/fitness and shape for my 50th..it's crossed my mind during this journal to maybe [no promises] pop in a half marathon, something I've never done, granted it's no big deal but it's something lol..anyway here's what I've been up to today..

08:00 ish: 3 egg Omelet with cheese-Bowl of porridge with raisins
10:00 Train..during which I drink aminos/carbs
11:00 Post workout protein
13:30 ish 3 pieces of chicken 2 sweet potatoes
16:00 ish Banana/Almonds/Cashews
18:00 ish 1 and 1/2 Gammon steaks 1egg half a jacket and peas
21:30 ish Cottage cheese portion of Chicken..

Training: Chest
2x30/15 flat flyes
2x12/14 seated hammer press, last set double drop and rest pause to failure
1x11 inc smith press again drop set and rest pause to failure
50 minutes cardio

by all means rip it to shreads ..no please dont!!!

nearly forgot pics

Looking good in the pics mate. Good luck with the next 12 months.

Plus I'm sure I've seen you out and about in town
HIT with Rightyho

Pity we didn't vid Rack going from pink and healthy with a touch of brown to white, then green then that death grey colour reserved for the severely traumatised.

RE: Uphill to the big 50 - 18 June 2008 21:22
Would have been at the gym today but a guy was calling round to repair the boiler..one of those he'll be there anytime from daybreak to nightfall scenarios lol..so I nominated myself to wait in..I can train tomorrow it's not a problem nor unusual for me to swap days around..generally it's work that dictates that to me been self-employed an all..I won't so much bother with times today of meals as it was an up n down day regarding that..

Ready brek [first time in years n years]..protein drink/2 slices of wholemeal toast
2 tuna sandwiches
Omelet with cheese
chicken/veg
Quark

sure there's a meal missing from that..going to have to start and write things down when my usual routine breaks up of doing things..even when work interferes with training I still maintain a pretty rigid eating pattern..still never mind..

managed 45 minutes of cardio in there as well about 19:00'ish..

been a poor week work wise as well which as been praying on my mind..spent bl00dy ages flying all over Rotherham and the Dearne Valley doing quotes but a poor return..anyway onwards and upwards..

Where about do you train?

Found a really good place mate near crystal peaks..it's a little bit of a trek I know..takes me about 20 mins or so and it clocks about 8 mile..it's called Evolution, both owners [man n wife] compete they know Kitty on here..it's got everything you'd need as in squat rack/oly bars/free weights/good sized d-bells..it as a good room for back actually as well..owners really friendly as are the natives

There a few years old now Tony..but I took a 2 year exodus from training as explained mate..so that shape is something I'm aiming for..I'd say I was46/47 there or thereabouts..our little,un took some of me in my present state last night I'm going to the gym and on my return I plan to pop them on..I've shaken of the dart player look..I'm around 12-10/178lb..as for bodyfat no idea at a guess?..14%'ish..my aim is more shape/aesthetics/fitness now mate so we'll see how it goes..please keep popping in though..I value your input..

HIIT / tabata type stuff ,even with weights (and not the bonkers stuff i do) is awsome for body composition , i believe just like if you eat crap ,you look crap (and feel crap) the type of training really shows on the bod (bit obvious i know) im no longer big but the intense circuits i do really show ,when i was powerlifting you could deffo see the lack of cardio !!

If you could see it , It wouldn't be subliminal.

I'm kinda not I guess..it's a funny game as you never quite see yourself as others do..I'm now 49 and I suppose for that age my stats are not a bad average..I'll get back to the pic shape I hope in the next few months..I really see no reason why not..
