Weekly Cooking? - 20 June 2008 20:42
Hi,

Basically me and my OH are struggling with money at the minute (isn't everyone). We usually buy whatever healthy food we fancy on a weekly shop then pop into the local Tesco express every day for bits. We had the idea of trying to get all the cooking (or most of it) done on a sunday then we wouldn't waste food.

Does anyone have any recipe ideas that are Cheap, healthy and can be frozen? or maybe there weekly meal plan that they would like to share with us? I am sure we can save loads if we budget.

Thanks in advance
Lucy

No weekly plan, but some of the meals i make then freeze are...

Chilli con carne - 1 jar of sauce, i use 500g turkey mince(cheaper than other mince) and 1 onion.... Cook, then put in plastic tubs and frozen.
Bolognese - See above, same guidelines/procedure!
Chicken Chasseur - 4 chicken breasts, 1 onion sliced, chicken chasseur powder mix... Thrown into a casserole dish and ocoked for an hour (Or 2 so its super tender) - Put into 4 tubs, frozen, DONE!

Thats about all i have at the moment, my other meals are salad + fish... quick/easy.
Breakfast is just cereal.
Lunch is pitta bread + salad + Chicken(already precooked and frozen!).

Plastic tubs, buy 10 of them from "99p store" microwaveable and freezeable, and when you get takeaways... keep the plastic tubs!
I've got about 50
