What supps? - 21 June 2008 01:59
I am just starting out on the long journey of getting myself the body I want and I am working really hard at it too, I am doing 35 minutes of cardio every day and then weights afterwards. I am just tweaking my diet to suit and I think I am getting there. My main aim is a lean bulk up, so I have devised a diet for that. I am taking cyclone twice a day but no other suppliments, I really could do with something that gives me a kick throughout my session and also a good fat stripper on the side, could anyone reccomend to me which products to use in my circumstances? also this maximuscle cyclone seems to be getting results in terms of strength and it tastes goos but it is really expensive! I managed to get some for £25.00 a tub but they are only lasting about 18 days. So if anyone could reccomend a good source for all three of these things which will be a bit easier on the pocket?

Good protein, with all of the ingredients of cyclone ie amino acids and such
fat stripper, ie eph, can you still buy it legally? has astro withdrawn it? or equivilent
Workout booster that wont make me put any fat on

Thanks for all the advice in advance!!

Hi mate all the best in getting the body you want.

Fat burners - Stack II or Grenade are meant to be good(both can be found here): http://www.bodybuildingwarehouse.co.uk/fat-burners-18-c.asp . Eph is now banned, but stack II has the herbal version of eph in (mu huang).

Protein - Theres few out there, Boditronics, CNP Pro Peptide, 90+, these are all very nice tasting proteins with great ingredients: http://www.bodybuildingwarehouse.co.uk/protein-powders-17-c.asp

Workout Booster - Dorian Yates Ultimate NOX Pump is a really good booster (considered by many to be the daddy of them all,me included). Depends whether your after energy or pump or both: http://www.bodybuildingwarehouse.co.uk/index.asp?function=DISPLAYCAT&catid=26

If you want you can buy samples of some of the things iv mentioned from the website iv used above, just enter sample in the search box and it will show all the samples available.
Also you could post your diet up in the Diet section and have a few of the members have a look over it for you.

You can replace the Cyclone with a bulk Whey powder from someone like myprotein. It'll be tons cheaper.

I see from Maximuscle's site that Cyclone contains:
# 10g of creatine and 10g of glutamine peptides
# 80mg of 97% Beta-Ecdysterone
# 3000mg of HMBâ„¢ (Enzymatic Metabolites of Leucine)
# Contains Nitrogainâ„¢ (a power blend of: Taurine, NAC, Chromium Polynicotinate and Orotic acid)

You can buy creatine powder from myprotein, it's less than £2 for 100g of the stuff IIRC. I don't think you need glutamine peptides, Beta-ecdysterone is an insect hormone that IME is about as anabolic as black liquorice, HMB is quite good for recovery again you can buy it from a bulk supplier.

As for the nitrogain I'd really recommend you buy a Formula from Myprotein called Pulse and take it on an empty stomach 30-45m pre-training - that'll give you a serious NOX effect during your workout. Pulse really will give you a massive kick up the backside during your workouts.

Then post workout take your blend of Whey, creatine, and HMB (say 50g Whey, with 5g each of creatine and HMB) with 50g or so of either dextrose or maltodextrin.
At other times take your whey, creatine, hmb WITHOUT the dextrose/maltodextrin.

DOing it this way will save you shedloads of money.

PS. In my opinion if you're out to lean bulk you can't just add in a fat stripper and lose the flab simultaneously. Get some muscle built up first, then restrict your cals and lose the excess bodyfat. Don't try to do both!

If your just starting out I would say you don't need half the supplements your on. At this point you should concentrate on your training and diet, making sure that's the best they can be and maybe chuck in some very basic supplementation like whey/dextrose/creatine (all of which are available cheaply from site sponsors) to assist pwo and whey throughout the day when whole foods are not possible. Most of what you do in the very early stages of training results in growth because the stimulus is new and as you progress you can think of incorporating some specalised supps if you think you'll benefit from them or they fit your goals.

Nope. Nox Pump would probably help because it's a stimulant.

Some creatine products would hinder - e.g. cell tech, because it has alot of dextrose in it - but that's relatively old tech, and most of the new creatine products with clever uptake enhancers, and especially the pump products which include relatively less creatine and relatively more of other ingredients, often have very few calories. Typically they'll have around 30 cals per serving (an apple is 50).

Only if they take you over your daily calorific requirements mate. You do know about diet don't you?
You could do worse than heading over to the Diet forum and posting up your diet and goals there.

I would suggest a whey shake for pwo etc, a multi-vitamin and most importantly good food catering for your calorific needs.

RE: What supps? - 21 June 2008 22:54
shows how new I am to this! I thought you should always do your cardio first? I used to be a member at a boxing gym and the trainer there told me to do me skipping, curcuits then bag work etc then do weights at the end. This to me reads cardio then weights? oh well can anyone explain to me why they recommend weights first because I imagine I would feel pretty awkward on the treadmill after a good workout on the irons! Also would you suggest that I take the likes of nox pump at every weights session, and does it have any benefits for just a cardio workout?

Agree completely.
I would go all out with the weights- more important IMO
3 weights sessions per week = 10% increase in metabolic rate (same as clen).
