I wish Gomez had have been a few years younger and the result could have been different

Is Khan ready for a world title? I think the answer is a big fat "No" based on tonight's showing.

A younger Gomez may well have finished Kahn in the second. Kahn looks far from world class to me, great offensive skills but Gomez showed him up on the inside and I don't think Kahn is heavy handed enough to be dominant on the world stage.

No but Gomez does take punches unlike alot of the previous guys. Khan needs to work in training on fighting the inside. Warren however should bring over ranked world class fighter like the winner of Julio Diaz vs David Torres instead of a John Thaxton class fighter

ORIGINAL: jw8725 maybe you should title this thread Khan Haters r' us? Why? Because he struggled against a shot domestic level opponent? "Now I am in with world class fighters like Michael Gomez"

Great fight. A top class fighter would pick Khan apart

ORIGINAL: jw8725 maybe you should title this thread Khan Haters r' us? I think Khan will be hugely dominant at top class world level for many years to come across a good few weight categories. Possibly emulating Ray Leonard's achievements of winning 6 word championships in 5 weight classes. Better? Oh, hang on........thats not right is it? Lets just judge as we find shall we? Water is wet, grass is green and Amir Khan is simply not world class. * *message accurate at the time of posting

\ He lands so many shots that seem to have no effect, like one of those bad dreams where you keep hitting someone and nothing happens.

i think khan is a good fighter but far far from world class. as was said by warren 'he's a young lad, and impatient' he wants the title now, but reality is he needs a good few fights first, and he neeeeeeeds to start coming up agenst top class fighters rather than all these yester-year fighters. gomez career highlight was what.... 5/6 years ago?

Just thinking about how Khan would be demolished by the likes of Katsidis makes me wince. If managed well he could get the world title, but he's a long way from being world class.

As an amateur you can certainly see how his quick hands and accuracy equalled decent points wins. The transition to the pro rank is much harder for him. Gomez has just presented the game plan for any future opponent Gomez lacked the physical strength and work rate to stay inside and batter khan's ribs and wing overhand punches. I suspect there are opponents out there who have those attributes and *will* finish the job.

khan boxed well but the ref protected him after the knockdown and its not the first time thats happened . Why on earth did the ref give khan an 8 count ??? if he had have let khan carry on gomez wouldve finished him off . But as for gomez getting stopped it was the right decision IMO .

Khan's handspeed at times was sensational and he clearly has heart BUT all the extra training and experience in the world will count for nothing when he gets hit on the chin by a world level performer. He may go on to win a world title and I genuinely hope he does but he will always be vulnerable in any fight with what is undoubtedly a weak chin.

I'm sorry but I think round 5 must have had some big money on it. The ref was a disgrace imo. Khan is not only chinny but he cant take a body shot either, although that might be down to his 1.5% bf

That was laughable that 1.5% body fat claim! VCant say anything thathasnt been said already. Fast hands, very skillfull fighter when attacking. Chins poor, and lacks KO power. If he fights someone who can bang then its lights out. I genuinely like him and wish him well but he aint going tto cut it.

Khan is not ready for the world stage, though you cannot knock his enthusiasm. Khan hits hard, very hard. His punches are very quick and he puts together awesome combos. He is crap on the inside and his footwork is very two dimensional. I hope his new trainers can fix these things. I guess we are used to seeing ready made fighters on TV, making it easy to slate a 'work in progress' like Khan. It's been very interesting watching him improve with each fight. He would have learned about dealing with getting hurt from that fight. Gomez fought very well, though ran out of steam. Kahn needed to be more mobile and just out box Gomez until he ran out of steam. Khan couldn't get himself off the ropes or slip punches too well. OK Gomez is past his peak but not a fighter you'd put Kahn against if you were trying to protect him. Khan took some terrific shots. Onwards and upwards. I hope Kahn sorts his trainer issues out sharpish, it's slowing his development.

ORIGINAL: jw8725 maybe you should title this thread Khan Haters r' us? Maybe i should was going to start one but thought this one is a perfect opportunity for me to hate already!!! so here it goes.............. another frank warren fight hand picked again, with a scary 2nd round knock dwn to kahn and a wikid blow to the ribs putting kahn in a very noticable pain, a paid ref, a bribed ref!!! a gomez fine to fight stilll ducking and weacing and throwing his hand out to the side in disgust to being stopped!!! Cheers frank warren for screwing up this class of weight and making brits look stupid when kahn goes to america and gets battered.. He cant fight close, hes not world class, and im glad his contract under warren is over!! P.s i do have a strong dislike to amir kahn!! s33nyboy
