Incline/Decline bench angle - 22 June 2008 10:49
What approximately are the best angles to set the bench for incline and decline benching to hit the top and bottom of the pecs harder? The bench at the gym never seems to decline enough and hit my chest very well, I was thinking of tilting it further on a ledge or something, would this help?

58.76859 degrees

imo you can hit the full chest with a flat bench but i do choose to use an incline also of about 15 degrees... i never use a decline

I'm trying to round out the top on my chest and started hitting my chest from all angles, which is why I am trying different positions on the incline and decline - never feel as though the decline helps much though, may even drop it altogether.

Thanks though.

I dont like a high incline. I put my bench at about 30% .

anywhere from 45 degree to minues 45 degree.

personally I like 0 degrees. but that is me.

the higher the incline the more emphasis is placed on the shoulders.

For me, for Incline between 30-45 degrees suits me i very rarely do any Decline benching, no main reason, i just don't really like doing it and prefer Incline.

30 degrees for me, 45 degrees is too harsh an angle and i feel it more in my shoulders

i personally set the bench at four notches up.
If you never expect anything from anyone you will never be disappointed.
