Fussy eaters - 22 June 2008 11:52
Do fussy eaters annoy you? I hate going out for dinner with people who are so fussy and rule out half the restaurantes in town or will only order the same food and not willing to try new things. Even when it comes to cooking they won't experiment.

I think it's the way their parents have brought them up ( not giving them variations in their diet) or only letting them eat what they like. I don't know why it annoys me so much, anyone else feel the same.

Or people who say they don't like things but the truth is that they've never even tried it..

RE: Fussy eaters - 22 June 2008 12:02
Im like that but its with spicy/strong flavour food and sht like that, i just know i wont like it. If its gonna burn my mouth off i dont wanna eat it.
Its nothing to do with parents. An they tried force feed me onions when i was younger and made me even more determined not to eat em.

I can see why ruling half the restaurants in town out will effect you but i dont see what difference it makes to you that someone wants to eat what they want off the menu, its up to them isnt it.

In the same way normal people find bodybuilders weird that they eat 6 meals a day and huge quantities.

I used to be fussy with food and it was all down to the texture. I may like the taste but if it had a horrible texture it would make me feel sick.

I used to eat a small variety of foods and not often try new things. Now I will try most things and if it is healthy keep it healthly untill I like it.

Last year I had never eaten a pizza, fish (other than cod) or chinese and this year I ate my first egg. lol

Depends what you call fussy. I hate spicy food and I despise cheese in all it's form. Can't abide the taste of either. Rules out a lot if eating places

I`m quite a fussy eater, unless i`m very hungry, in which case i`ll eat foods that i dont even like.

Refuse to eat anything remotely spicy, it just doesnt go with me at all, and theres very few foods i do actually eat.

Cant see why it would bother anybody though, if i dont like something, i`m not going to eat it just to please somebody, i dont complain about foods i dont like, i`ll just eat what i do like, in great quantities.

Its annoying if people pick up on it, why does it interest you? Surely its not hard to get your head around not liking the taste or texture of something?

Blasphemousfish - I hate peppers too( green, red, yellow, orange), it's one of the very few foods I don't like. I would be physically sick if I ate one.

I love chillies though ( the spicier the better)

I once had dinner in a restaurant in Kansas City with a man who demanded that none of the foods on his plate were touching one another - i.e. that the carrots were not touching the green beans or the potatoes, etc. There had to be a clear channel between everything.

When his meal arrived he ate eat constituent part one at a time as if it were five different courses on a single plate.

Very odd.

Anyway, what really gets on my goat is flipping vegetarians.

They come round your house for dinner and make you go out of your way to prepare vegetarian food.

Then you go round their house for dinner, and do they cook you meat?

Do they fk.
Ten thousand glorious years.

i work in a silver service restaurant and see it often
what annoys me is when a customer selects a dish they wont then end up saying they dont want this and dont want that of the selected dish and it ends up being virtually a different thing altogether, ARRRRRRgh!

That one made me laugh, very true indeed. I have never understood vegetarians, if it is part of your religon then fair enough, but otherwise it baffles me. A friend once told me that i was a hypocrite and should only eat an animal if i could kill it. In turn i told him that if it were life and death and i didnt know him, id kill, cook and happily eat him. He laughed, not knowing i was serious.

What gets my goat is vegetarian/vegan parents who feed their children a poor and unvaried diet. I dont care what anybody says, when children are growing up, they should have a balanced diet that includes meat. If they then choose to be vegetarian, that should be their choice. But the choice should be there to be made.

Anyway, im not a fussy eater. Ill pretty much eat anything thats edible, especially if it has a good protein content. My other half though, was a very fussy eater when i met her, but not so much anymore partly thanks to my influence. Shes still a tad fussy with what she eats now, but its more to do with eating a healthy diet now.

I have never undertood vegetarians

Maybe they do not like meat?

I am fairly confident that many MT members are very fussy eaters. One look at the diet and nutrition section provides confirmation of this.

If you just do not like meat, then of course that makes sense, i actually know a person who is that way inclined. But the whole its cruel arguement doesnt bother me in the least, if its there and its edible, id kill it and eat it. Horses for courses i guess, some people cant bare to imagine an animal being killed for its meat, but ive seen it many times and am somewhat indifferent to it all.
