important protein question - 22 June 2008 19:07
When is the best or most effective time to take most protein in? before, or after gym days or during none gym days?

I thought that by taking most protein after a workout was most effective because the muscle fibres are damaged and need repairing.

the reason why i ask this is because i have protein powder and protein bars but i cannot afford to be taking them every day so would like to know when the best time to take them is

cheers

I don`t want to answer ( or try to) by my Lass says because of your name I must lol.

Anyway, Protein is always important mate, before as well as after and especially inbetween, when you rest is when you grow, thing of it like a cycle where there is no beginning and no end.

Firstly I would eat real food as much as possible and just use the bars and powder( unless PWO in the case of the powders) when it is difficult to fit a proper meal in mate, don`t forget these are supplements ie to supplement your normal diet.

Hope that helps.

Protein general throughout the day has always been my aim, howver digestion takes care of giving it to your body so just try eat it throughout the day.

As for timings, fats and carbs and all the other factors - Depends on your approach, plus many other factors.
