Shoulder press injury
-
22 June 2008 19:24
Hey guys I was doing seated DB shoulder press yesterday, alternating shoulders- and on 3rd set, the DB started to fall backwards behind head as it came down, pulling shoulder backwards which was really painful. Today, it's killing..... Question is how to do this correctly? I was sitting to support back, but don't know best way to avoid injury. Could this also be due to weight being too heavy? And how to train while this is still sore? Should I take a break til it's recovered, or is it OK to keep training, doing exercises that don't stress the shoulder? Cheers

It sounds as though your stabilizing muscles are a bit weak. I would lower the weight enough that you are able to do a controlled movement. Once you are able to do the exercise properly, then increase the weight. As far as the injury, listen to your body. In other words, if it hurts, don't do it. Wait until the pain subsides and the continue on with your program.
Let it sink.... I can swim.
