What is your opinion of BB Hang Clean (or Hang Clean and press) for the bodybuilder?

Is it more suited to those who train purely for strength?

Does it have a place in a bodybuilders training plan?

I love the movement myself.

More of a strength/power move I'd say, but I'm sure they can stimulate muscle growth.

I know it's a power movement, as is the deadlift, but I've heared some 'heardgainer' type routines recommend this movement.

I'm not a hardgainer but just wondered what everyone's opinion of this movement is for gaining muscle.

ORIGINAL: Jake

I know it's a power movement, as is the deadlift,

no your barking up the wrong tree.

a clean is a movement that is generally used to develop power. hence its preformed at such a tempo i.e explosive / really fast. but your moving your arms around with weights on the end its going to build some size and strength.

a deadlift is used to devlop all sorts of things i.e bulk, muscle definition and strength as its performed on a slower tempo usually a 2:1:1 or a 3:1:1.

id personally stick with slower exercise unless your training for power as the risk of injury isn't as high (generally speaking)
the gym is like women - takes up all your time, energy and money if you let it.
