Help!
-
22 June 2008 19:51
I was wondering, just a quick question really. If, I were to do: Monday: Weights Tuesday: Cardio Wednesday: Weights Thursday: Cardio Friday: Weights Now, if I instead did cardio everyday instead, surely that would optimise fat loss, but would I lose A LOT of muscle? Just wondering how important weights for losing fat really is. Just posted this in an existing thread a moment ago, but thought it might receive a quicker response if I make a brand new thread. Also, if the answer is yes, and Weights are vital for fat loss, then is it possible to train on just bodyweight training? I have a chin up bar etc, because the best Gym where I live is about a 40 minute brisk walk from where I live, I tryed it for a week, but 40 minutes there, and 40 minutes back, gets extremely boring after a while.

Hi, weights are very important for weight loss as the more muscle you carry the higher your metabolism as muscle need calories just to maintain them-selves at rest. So, try mixing your weigts and cardio on seperate days at first then when you feel fit enough you can start combining them to-gether.

I agree in regards to weight training. Now, about the body weight training you asked... I don't see how you can get a proper workout unless you are either 1. extremely large and/ or 2. quite weak. I mean, chin ups are one thing, but how many push ups would you need to do to get a proper workout.... or squats/ lunges for that matter. Now dont get me wrong, of course this is better than not doing any resistance training. A gym would just be superior.

I don't think the quantity of my workout comes into it that much, it's the intensity.
