are you too sensitive to slin?
-
22 June 2008 20:13
has anyone tried slin pwo and found out you go hypo no matter how much simple carbs you drink cause your too sensitive to slin. so you cant use it? also those who use slin do you ever get hypo symptoms or an ill feeling or does taking slin not make a diffrence to how you feel cause your carb plan is spot on? iv had 3iu pwo and still felt **** and slightly hypo even after drinking 80g dex just before slin shot. i dicided not to use it. and ended up on hosp cause i was hypo when i used 7iu pwo with 150g dex and 60g protein same time as shot. it just doesnt agree with me, i think im too sensitive to it. and i did slowly increase dose but since i was bad on 7iu i just havent been able to use it again even 2-3iu makes me feel bad and that dose is pointless

Did not affect me mate, currently shooting 12iu pwo 4 times a week and will be for a good few more weeks. Using malto and whey in my shake straught after in usual protocol, a big carb rich clean meal an hour later and im all good (touches wood)

Funny you should mention this mate..... I tried 4iu's slin with 4iu's gh last week. I shot IM PWO. My hands were shaking really bad after heavy deadlifts & some clen. TBH i had bother even getting the needle in! Anyway, aspirated - no blood, so went for it - thing was, i'm shaking so much & the needle's moving around, that when i pulled out - there's blood dripping down my arm. Well i'd just read somewhere about "the dangers of going direct into the bloodstream" with slin, so TBH i got a bit worried. I also had a wierd taste in my mouth (??) anyway i drank my 100gms glucose straight down - and started to feel really ill & not right at all. Over the course of the next hour i just kept feeling worse. I drank another glucose drink (about 50gms) plus a bottle of lucozade, and then later had a banana. Cut a long story short i frightened myself - and blamed the slin hitting my blood too fast. However since talking to a number of other people, they've all said that what i experienced was probably a panic attack - plus being wiped out from the workout. I've been told that 4iu's couldn't have made me 'that ill'. TBH i don't know. I'm tempted to try it again - maybe not even PWO - so that i won't confuse PWO wipeout with genuine hypo symptoms, and maybe going sub-q so as to avoid any vessels, etc. I dunno mate TBH. Now i've read what happened to you, i'm doubting myself again!

Thanks stone14 - very scary mate, eh? Well i defo felt sickly - but managed not to hurl. I honestly don't know what to think mate. I'd never even considered that some people may be 'over sensitive' really until i'd read this mate. While it was happening to me i was blaming the fact that the slin hit my blood to quick & i just didn't have time to get the carbs into me - however that would maybe explain feeling ill for the first few minutes (or however long it would take for the glucose to raise my BG back up) can't really explain why i continued to feel so ill for such a long time - despite the amount of glucose i took in. I even had a theory that maybe i'd made myself Hyper rather than hypo. Both clen & gh can supress natural insulin release. Now considering i'd only had 4iu's of slin - but ended up having around 200gms sugar, all in all - i dunno? As i say, since all this happened (and talking to others) i'd pretty much decided that i was just suffering my first ever panic attack - and was gearing up to try the slin again - maybe away from PWO so i can get a genuine feel for it - but i am starting to wonder - after what happened to you mate.

what slins wer you useing? i was using novorapid which is a very fast acting slin maybe this is why id done adree with me, maybe Humalin-R is a better choice, it will give my body a chance to absorb some of the carbs before it kicks in? or i could of waited 15min after my carb drink before taking novrapid slin? i dono i dont think i will bother with it now
