Thoughts on planned diet? "Fat cycling" - 22 June 2008 21:11
My diets pretty low in fat everyday, i get in my EPA/oily fish but apart from that i rarely cook with it etc.
So inorder to ensure im getting fat on some days i was considering having a "High fat low carb day" on saturday/sunday(Where activity is low, i do one low intensity cardio session on saturday then day off sunday).

So through the week when i do weights mon/wed/fri carbs would be around 200g normally, protein the same and fat pretty low ~20g area.

Then on weekends when activity drops, i'd drop the starchy carbs (just veggies and whatever is in my soya mince/salads) and increase the fats which will be a nice change of diet, boost my fat intake if my body needed them(Saturated for testoterone etc) and may also start to deplete my muscles for when monday comes.

Then monday arrives and i eat all my starchy carbs through the day leading up to training, maybe some type of low level "super compensation" will occur, and carbs maybe less likly to be stored as fat etc.

Thoughts?
I'd avoid ketosis, dont want the cloudy thoughts or anything.
Protein is kept around ~200g every day. See any downsides or anything? See a better option?

I guess its "Fat cycling", lol not heard of that one before

To low for what? Who? Why?
Right now im just on a slight deficit, with partys/BBQs/Meals out(huge feasts) every few days - The deficit "buffers" their effects, hopefully keeping the condition i have at the moment.

Complexed? Just swap fats for carbs on weekend, nothing else

As someone with an active lifestyle i've never been interested in lo carb/high fat intakes.. (and my knowledge reflects this!) but that does seem very low. You might be suffering in some ways- maybe uptake of fat soluble vitamins etc, something to look into i suppose? I don't know if a few 'high fat' days a week would be enough to counteract any negatives mate- but i'm no expert on these things

Weekends are sedetry mainly, so high fat would be good here.

Uptake of vitamins may increase to allow for the past few days deficits? unsure though.

Also unsure of longterm downsides to low fat diets, hopefully some others will inform us! I know saturate fat is linked to test production, so some is required. I get my EPA/DHA in capsules and mackeral/Pilchards(even during the week high carb days!) and the rest are from lean meats/soya mince/bread/veggies - very limited obviously.
