"Peak Week" Diet Progress Journal
-
22 June 2008 23:31
Just come off 6 month diet and have decided to do 1 week sodium and carb manipulation to finish it off (before I start bulking). Im pretty much going into this blind so some advice and help would be appreciated. Thought Id keep you guys up to date via this post. Took some pictures today before I start - the overhead spotlight probably makes me look better than I do infront of the mirrors. Ill post thought the week. Very impressive, 6month cut though? Ouchy! How much weight have you lost, any ECA? AAS? Clen etc? Stuck to the same diet or varied daily? Whats the diet look like, if its rigid. Stats to? Well done!
My posts are all my opinion and based on current knowledge/understanding.

Thanks. Just about to head out for morning run before I head into work. Any advice on how I should adjust cardio for this week would help - but Im gonna keep it going, but shorten it. rishINS - Stuck to roughly same diet over 6 months whith slight tweaks as I went. But wasnt massive to start with. Probably started about 20% body fat - dropped about 2 stone. (im just over 12 now). Started with 5 mornings cardio though (3 miles jogging) and gradually bumped it up to 7 mornings cardio, jogging for 5 miles. Not taken any of stuff you listed there. Kept it to whole foods, protein shakes. Only supplements Ive taken is arginine, creatine and caffeine although those werent taken religiously. (Im only a casual bodybuilder - drug free)

Just stating to sodium load today (maybe Im starting a bit late?) No idea on quanitities, so just adding either salt, soy sauce ketchup to every meal. Planning to continue this till Thursday. Planning on drinking 7 litres of water from today and keeping carbs at about 170g for that day (ill drop this each day as i progress) Training wise, Ive done a 30 min cardio session in the morning and hitting the gym in the evening.. Probably go for full body woukout.

Sounds good, very impressive. Whats your routine look like? is it whatever you fancy, or same routine weekly? Alot of cardio there, id of probably started with less so you had more to add at a later date (plus i belive it can effect strength/size gains if to much is done also) goodluck with final week

My diet has been same for 6 months (except for changes in quantities) and Ive probably gone through 2 different training routines over that time. I do, however, switch up the order I do exercises on a regular basis. Its worked well for me - not lost any strength over that time. And the main thing is I feel I look much better and have a good base to attack a lean bulk for the next 6 months.

Sounds good, Certainly a good base to bulk from! Personally i'd of bulked from slightly higher bodyfat as the time/effiency of fat loss is so poor, but a great achievement !!!! Good luck in final week!

For the last meals of your final day is it okay to have egg whites as your protein source? Protein shakes will be out of the question due to the water?

No idea on my current bodyfat, will get it measured on the weekend. Im gonna put a report up on what I did over the 6 months shortly, so look out for that for tips. Although, what worked for me wont work for you. Main thing is, I took it slow and easy. Didnt starve myself (never felt hurngry) and was patient - went by measurements rather than by the mirror. Also, stay on point as much as possible, all about consistancy. You will inevitably cheat a bit, so dont purposely put too much cheating into your plan. If you can find a healthyish place to eat out it helps - I used Nandos quite alot. Meditarrian salad with double chicken breast. The other thing Id say is to favour more (moderate paced) exercise over too strict a diet. Burn more rather than consume less. You will feel fitter too. Ill post diet and training shortly. Hope it helps.

Finally someone who has planned ahead appropiately!!!! Most people post these goals on christmas day I'd echo Lobo, although hes achieved a leaner look than me however weight loss is weight loss. Just about getting your head down, keeping cheats to a minimum but enjoying them when you do and it will happen. just FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOU, try high fat/low carb diets, try 6 meals a day, try 2 meals a day, try hot drinks with meals, lots of veggies, high input and high output, low input and low output untill you find what you prefer. ORIGINAL: Lobo Main thing is, I took it slow and easy. Didnt starve myself (never felt hurngry) and was patient - went by measurements rather than by the mirror. Also, stay on point Interesting, i've shyed away from measurements as i've found calipers to be far from accurate and can be misleading. Plus mirror is my goal "to look good" so measurements are more of my "progress confirming device".

inally someone who has planned ahead appropiately!!!! Most people post these goals on christmas day Yeah me and my housemate train together so we eat and do everything together which makes it easier, we decided to do a 10 week cut for new years which will hopefully get us where we want to be. We are both quite low bf so shouldn't be too much of a problem getting 'ripped' thanks for the advice guys im starting 5 days of AM cardio a week for 30 mins and see how it goes i'll drop the calories slowly over the first few weeks! i'll definately be getting before and after pics up and pics of us as spartans haha

Try 2-3 cardio sessions, drop food a bit. if you go all out now, you'll not have much left. Also you may find this sudden cardio gives u a huge drop in weight/tissue loss. IMO of course, i added to much cardio to soon on my cut though

Just to keep you up to date. Last day of sodium loading. Felt pretty crap last couple of days. And peeing like mad, probably at least once an hour. Thats what 8 litres of water a day does. Not sure if I look any different. Maybe a bit softer, but then Im double guessing myself cos Im looking for it (maybe). I need to start dropping sodium now? Should I totally cut it? Or gradually? Do I need to supplement with potassium? Also, do I have to go for sodium free water? Im using the water fountain at work at the moment. Dont partiuclarly want to carry 5 litres of Evian into work. No weights today, but did a bit of cardio in the morning. WIll be hitting 2 light cardio sessions tomorrow and Friday. Carns start getting low for next 3 days too so I dont expect to feel any better.
