Shoulder Rehab Help - 23 June 2008 15:25
Hey for about 2 years now ive had a problem with my shoulder, Ive self diagnosed myself with atraumatic shoulder instability. As in I had a few injuries that I think have gradually made it worse. The worst of which was a shoulder press with a very heavy barbell where my shoulder collapsed under the weight and that happened again on those machines where you pull the bar down in front of you and when it went up it pulled my shouldder out again! so now if i elevate my left arm so hand is pointing upwards and arm is straight and let it fall back it feels like the shoulder can pop out and it sometimes happen if i stretch or let my arm fall backward too fast or try holding my weight on monkey bars with arms straight. So! Im going to a muay thai camp in a month and the training will be quite vigerous and I would like to possibly do some mma while im there so think I better try to at least physio my shoulder since thats all I can do at the moment cause if I was to need an op id not be able to train and ive already booked my flights! Sooo. To try and physio my shoulder ive started sitting against a wall and doing like dumbell fly presses with my arms flat against the wall, pushing my arms up straight. Pretty much the military press only im doing it without weights. Everytime I do it my left shoulder clicks a little. Im guessing this is cause of misaligned tendons from what ive read.

So my question is. Does this sound like an ok way to physio my shoulder? If i keep doing the movements that it should do without clicking, until it stops clicking and then add some light weight and build up?

Go to a physo mate, ideally one who understands sport/weight training.

I have a problem with my right shoulder, deep in the joint, really does hurt at times aswell.

My GP told me to lay off the heavy weights for a few month but I cant do that.

I should really, rather than make it any worse.
I WORK HARD BUT LIKE TO PLAY EVEN HARDER !!!
