Carbs only Pre/ Post Work out vs Carbs in every meal?
-
23 June 2008 17:53
For sporting performance what are the advantages/ disadvantages of only having carbs at breakfast, Pre workout, and post work out as opposed to having smaller carb portions throughout the day? Just now I only eat carbs before and after training (and breakfast) as its easier just to have protein/fat meals at work, and I am greedy and would rather have a larger portion of carbs when I eat. I cant put on too much weight as I have to be in a specific weight division.

If your eating for sports then it's obviously performance based so carbs are essential IMO.

The "risk" of not eating enough carbs at breakfast, or not eating your carbs soon enough before exercise(remember theres a long period of digestion, its not a case of "Swallowing and using the energy instantly"(which people seem to forget). Where as carbs eaten all day, usually would mean theres plenty around and no "risk" of having a poor performance due to lack of carbs to fuel the high intensity activity. I feel crap if i dont eat carbs, my brain tells me eat oats, rice, oats, rice, just eat some freaking carbs!!!! No idea if im a "carb burner" though
My posts are all my opinion and based on current knowledge/understanding.
