Grits - 24 June 2008 12:55
I have had these whilst in Mexico and know they are very popular in The States, can anyone tell me:

a) where (if possible) can I buy the ingredients in England ie course ground corn?

b) does anybody have any specific "Grits" recipes as a good morning meal for bulking?

Thanks

I thought grits was the US name for oats.

My understanding is that Grits are ground corn but unlike cornmeal the grain is very course (similar I asume to polenta)?

Quite right. They're coarse ground corn.

You can buy them here, £3.20 for 5 kilos.

I've not used them before, but it seems to be the only place that sells grits in the UK.

That site takes a few days to "register" so went on E-Bay and ordered some Grits and Cornbread mix (both very good carb sources)

The place is based in UK called "Stateside Candy Co"

I will let you know what they are like when I've taken delivery mate
