Ford Capri 3.0 Auto
-
24 June 2008 13:39
I've just bought a Ford Capri 3.0 automatic on a V plate for £1,000. it's done 47000 genuine miles and is in A1 condition. It's been stood and wrapped in a tarpaulin for 3 years, I took it for a MOT this morning after I'd freed the brakes thinking it would want some work doing on it and sh!te me it went straight through without a advise on anything, the I was shocked so the tester shown me the underneath of the car, he said look at this, the underneath was like new, all the shocks were spot on, all the joints and rubbers were spot on, the chap who tested it for me offered me £1,800 there and then, it's a twin cam engine with a K&N filter it's sounds a right monster when you drive down the road. I don't know whether to drop it on Ebay or keep it for the summer then flog it and make a decent profit out of it? I'll drop some pictures on here when I get my phone back from O2.

Wrap it up and keep it for a few more years mate - they are destined to become a right collector's classic. Not the black JPS-coloured one with gold trim by any chance?

Very retro mate, keep it on the road, but look after it.

Keep it and wrap it up! Some people pay silly money for the right one as there are still a load of dogs about! I'd try and convert it to manual but that's just me. Bet the engine sounds beastly!
HIT with Rightyho Pity we didn't vid Rack going from pink and healthy with a touch of brown to white, then green then that death grey colour reserved for the severely traumatised. Journal R.I.P.

Bet the engine sounds beastly! The engine sounds like a right monster, with the twin exhausts it makes a right old growl. How much do you reckon it'll be worth in a few years time?

where's the pics ??? When i was a lad i was out with my sister and a few mate's and a bloke walked up to her and said " I've got a 2ltr Capri lazer parked outside" he was well smug about it... I almost fell over laughing... She was very unimpressed... Nice retro car m8 be carefull in the wet... very front end heavy.. That's why they're quite rare. Most of them have been stacked in a tree somewhere.

if its as good as you say then I wouldnt take the £1800 for it as he'd go on to most likely sell it on again for double that amount keep hold of it as like the lads have said it will only go up in value, seen a mint Mk1 Escort Mexico near me for £8000 and a mint Mk2 RS 2000 for £11,000, I know the Capri isnt quite as desired but still worth hanging on to

Sounds like a bargain at £1000. And probably worth a lot more than £1800. If I were you i'd be looking for the Capri Owners club and seeing what they go for on there. The 3.0s is an appreciating asset.

Sounds like you got a bargain mate. The 3.0 is not as popular or as fast as the 2.8 V6,but for that money and condition it sounds sweet. Now if you had a 280 Brooklands......
