TheDA's diet help and advice appreciated
-

Hi all, ok after an injury gave me some time off training I thought I would try to nail my diet, so here goes. My aims are lean mass and strength though I understand you may (as I have) put on fat while bulking. Height 6'2" weight 204lbs 3 day training programme. Basic diet is as follows Breakfast 4-6 eggs with 2 slices of toast and 1/2 pint of milk with whey shake. (occasionally swap for 350 grams of porridge) Mid morning whey shake and 200grams of cottage cheese or 250 grams of noodles or 250 grams of peas. + fruit usually 3 oranges. Lunch varies but basically 1 chicken breast with 250grams of pasta or rice + loads of veg. Mid afteternoon whey shake &/or 250 grams of peas Pre-workout 1/2 litre of "blue bolt" (much cheaper than redbull) from sainsburys Post workout whey shake in milk (1 pint) + aminos Dinner Basically 250 grams of meat (chicken, beef, prawns etc) with few carbs (up to 50 grams of carbs) + loads of veg. Pre bed whey shake and aminos That is pretty much it in a nutshell, all advice is appreciated. I hope to keep this up for 8 more weeks on a bulking phase then try to lose some fat as I hate having fat round my stomach !

Just been told by a mate I should eat 400 grams of oats in addition to the eggs for breakfast..think I might die if I try to eat that at 7am. Anyone think it will make that much difference or could I wait until around 8 and eat it then?

that doesn't look too bad 400g oats is over kill 200g maybe but then you wouldnt need the toast i'd probably have a solid slow release protein source pre bed

Thanks Loz, Trouble is eggs on their own suck (even with pepper) hence the need for toast in my case ! Imight just double up and take the porridge around 9ish when I can face eating again I try to take whey (50grams ish) with aminos pre bed..think that is ok or do I need a different kind of protein? (the whey is from Myprotein)

Casein is in cottage cheese, quark and milk.

The DA's target weight..help needed !
-
05 July 2008 18:52
OK Things have been going pretty well on the gains front..less my ab tear..(see journal), but I am after a bit of advice. I was 13st.5lbs 19%BF 6'2" 6 months ago...Currently 14st.8lbs BF24 aiming to get to around 15 st5lbs (or there abouts) with a BF of 12-15%. I have managed to put on a fair whack of muscle while bulking, but unfortnately as always a fair bit of fat. I was wondering should I bulk up to around 16st then go on a cut or cut now and bulk again, not sure of the best way to get to my target weight and BF. I know cardio helps but I am a serious cardio dodger while bulking. Any help greatly appreciated

Im no expert, but I'd knock a few of those whey shakes on the head, and get some different sources of protein in your diet. For example, fish (salmon, mackrel...) and red meat (beef). Making sure your getting enough EFA's and other fats.

Fun meter, Thanks mate, I thought that the whey would be a good supplement to add protein as I get really bored eating when bulking as it is a lot of food, do you think just swapping the shake for some fish (easy to eat for me) would be better then? Mackeral might be off the cards as the office I work in has a woman who moans at everything, especially when we eat jars of pickled onions..don't know why If not I have a jerky maker, so I could swap a shake with beef jerky right?

No problem. Whey is fine to use, but I wouldnt depend on it. Its also absorbed fairly fast, so things like Ceasin / Milk Concentrate would be better for meal replacements. Things like fish and beef jerky are fine, as your then getting a variation of protein in your diet. Also helps to stops you from getting borred with the same food. Dont forget your fats as mentioned. Things like oily fish (salmon), nuts, seeds and capsules (O3). Hope this helps.
