journal number three

im posting on another forum as well but i will see what people think on here as well

gearing myself towards starting rugby union (fourth team to start), i have been down for the last two weeks once a week for a bit of touch rugby, severe doms from last nights runabout which is bad as im about to train back and bi's

when pre-season training starts it will be twice a week with the match on saturdays, this has meant that i have had to drop to a 3 day weights routine, i am still tweaking this little by little i am trying something a bit different tonight so once i have decided on it i shall post it up

i am also unsure as to whether i will continue the cut for the fitness side or go back up about another stone or two to get bigger and stronger

If it has training and a few humorous stories then you are fine

RE: balls to it here i go - 25 June 2008 22:03
right i'll put the routine up but please bear in mind a few things that are possibly important

1) i train at home (got a 1000lb bench and a 1000lb power cage though )
2) my right delt does not allow me to do some exercises, i am yet to sort it out, these exercises are
a) one arm dumbell rows
b) pull ups (if i fully extend my arms)

i can do pulls/chins if i do the ones will smith does in i am legend, so i do these

the routine is going to be a lot liek this one

sunday rest
monday back and biceps
tuesday rugby training
wednesday legs
thursday rugby training
friday chest and triceps
saturday match

i will start doing this when pre-season starts (at the moment training is just one day a week in the form of tag rugby) so i'll have to alter it as i dont really want to train legs the night before a match (if i get into the team)

the routine (4x8 unless stated)

back and biceps
deads (4x6)
underhand chins (3x10)
bb bent over rows
bb shrugs

chest and triceps
flat bb bench (3x6)
incl bb bench
dips
close grip bench

legs and shoulders
bb squats (4x6)
seated db press
stiff leg deads / good mornings
bb standing calf raises (3x18)

RE: there go my ears and nose - 26 June 2008 20:21
no training today, day of rest

no tales of woe either, just a bit of shopping rage as people would not get out of the way

it is not that hard, you have tuna in
brine
sunflower oil
springwater

you are fat already so just go for the sunflower oil so i can get to the multipack springwater stuff

i'm still walking like john wayne and i may well be allergic to deep heat since my stint of roaccutaine, i went to the toilet in work earlier and my quads, knees and upper legs (where had sprayed it) were all pink and blotchy, i looked like mr blobby

it wasnt sore or anything but ive not looked what it is like now

about to do legs and shoulders

squats
seated db press or miltary press
sldl
calf raises

not done sldl's for ages but i am not sure about good mornings anymore, i may ditch the sldl's for power cleans though as i love them

nothing to worry about, deep heat spray has a vasodilator in it that makes the capillaries in your skin open up, causing redness.

nice one

it did go after a while i think the fact that my trousers were a bit too tight didnt help as they must have rubbed against them

i thought it may have been as i had not used it for a while as well

right ive not really said much in here yet but im training at home, the gym looks a bit like the photos (ive got a few more weights, got rid of a bit of stuff like the cooker, etc and put some posters up)

i did about 6 months of boxing training last year prior to the holiday and got down to about 13.7 stone, so i predict that at 13 stone i should well be able to see my abs (i could just see them at 13.7 however this was still with love handles somehow)

the gym looks like this

Hey, he has a journal!!!!

Now, prove all those sceptics wrong and show us some proper lifting there mate. Also some progress pics will help, I know it feels daunting when we are not happy with our body ourselves, but it will help!!!

Looking at your PBs, surely those Squats can be improved massively, specially with rugby training coming those quads have to be bloody strong to cope with all the pounding you are going to get. Bench is impressive, for me anyone that benches 100kg and above is worth a mention!!!

well done my friend and I look forward to see your updates!

cheers pal, yeah the PB on squats came yesterday after years of struggling to get to 114, i suffer with my legs (part of the reason i didnt go to thai boxing) but i am aiming for a 130kg squat for reps, i never thought id get to 100kg so hoping that i make it
i'm enjoying the extra couple of days rest at the moment due to dropping to a 3 day split and rugby not having properly kicked off yet, when it does it's going to be mad trying to fit it all in, doms and all

as regards pictures i shall get some up at some point, theres a few people on here i need to suss out first (last time my pics were all over the place)

as soon as i start to see abs they will be all over the place i may even have an avatar

cheers for popping in pal

cheers pal

the bench was £229 i think, 1000lb capacity got it from fitness-supertore in stretford

i looked at this one but the poundage wasnt the same, it seemed a bit rickety
http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/utility_benches/bodysolid_flat_incline_decline_bench_grey/7087_p.html

mine looks like this one mate however the bottom looks a bit different, that is me on it anyway
http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/utility_benches/bodysolid_flat_incline_decline_benchfull_commerical_grey/7080_p.html

expensive but you'll never buy another bench again

however a word of warning, if you think that you can build it in the lounge, then carry it on your own through the lounge door, through the hall, through the kitchen door, through the kitchen and through the outhouse door into the outhouse you cannot as it is HEAVY
