bulking? - 25 June 2008 19:57
i want to up my protein and cal intake to bulk up, ive already gone from 10st 5lb too 12st 0lb since starting training, but i seem to have put on a bit of a belly too so my question is if i do a proper bulking diet will i just become a huge fat ****er, or would the hole point be to add muscle and fat then strip the fat away with a good cut?

bulking will inevtiably add fat yeah but people generally put up with that to build muscle mass, then cut to strip the fat and hopefully leave a nice lean muscular body

if you're careful with your bulking diet and keep active you can bulk without putting on too much fat

There's a limit to how much muscle mass you can add per week. This limit varies from person to person but is ~0.5lb on average (unless you use AASs). If you gain weight at a much higher rate than 0.5lb a week, a lot of this gain will be fat mass. If your bodyfat % goes above 20%, you may find that you start to gain more fat mass relative to muscle mass. This is a good point to start cutting.

If you cut too quickly, you lose more muscle mass relative to fat mass, so don't try to rush things.

I am bulking at the moment and had a lot of fat stores to begin with and was worried about putting more fat on!... My older bro is a semi-proffesional bodybuilding and his advice is iff you use a good weightgain i use Atlas super weight gainer, then it will not be stored as fat and will be used by the muscle. But this only works if you train at a good rate if your training is not intensive then you may suffer with fat problems, I have actually found using the weight gain with my training i've actually lost weight around my belly and put loads of mass on in such a short period..i know weight 130Kg and happy to carry on but i guess it's up to the person.
