Weight lifting/cardio/diet - 26 June 2008 18:29
I want to gain strength and size while reducing fat. I am 9st, 18, 5'6. Atm I go to the gym and lift fairly challenging weights (can't remember all the diff ones but they are not high by anyone's standards). My routine is this:

10 mins warmup bike
10 mins warmup rowing machine
weights
HIIT cardio (just started this) for as long as I can go afterwards

mon - chest/triceps
wed - legs/biceps
fri - back/shoulders

So; is it only possible to do one of these? to either gain strength and size or to reduce bodyfat? seeing as diet plays a big part (eating more to gain, eating less to reduce fat). Or can I eat large amounts of good foods, will this help me achieve both or not??

any advice please...if I have to stick to one I'd rather stick to losing fat first.

as someone relatively new to training i'd say go for one or the other

also you dont really need to warm up with cardio before weights, maybe just a lighter warm up set at the start of each excercise.. do your weights then any cardio after
