the bench press..... - 26 June 2008 18:59
when i 1st started training about a year ago i used the bar to perform flat incline and decline bench press exercises. I noticed gains but as they started to slow down i changed to the dumbell press on all platforms. I also noticed gains doing it this way. I was wondering which one is the best??
cheers

i found it the other way around, used to train soley on dumbbells, lifting 80kg in the form of 2 x 40kg dumbbells, and couldnt bench 60kg on the barbell!! very odd, guess you have to keep mixing it up to get the best allround effect

I tend to plateau when benching using the bb and d'bell, once a plateau on bb i use d'bells and vice versa. They are both very good exercises i like bb better, i do decline and incline bb and i am finally getting some growth on my chest. No one can really tell you whats best mate only you know that as everyone responds diff to diff exercises. Have you tried doing some thing like this, incline d'bell, flat bb, decline d'bell, you could add a mixture of d'bell and bb if you wanted.

You taking the barbell into accout for the 60kg lift, proper barbells can be quite heavy by themselves.

An olympic bar weighs 20kg.

Personally I think this testicle tenderness is due to my recent return to AM cardio. I do it naked on a recumbent bike and my gonads tend to flop about.
