Hi guys and gals,

I've started counting the calories in my diet and i'm looking to cut.

I know that I have to be in a calorie defecit to cut but I want to know how many calories i'm burning when i'm training. I've read a lot of posts and people seem to reccomend 4 x 40mins of SSCV a week (am if possible) which is what i'm doing (throwing in a HIIT now and then)

I know it's probably relative but if you could give me like between "x and y" calories that would be great.

Also if i'm trying to cut, how many cals should I be consuming each day. Today (so far), i've had the following

Protein: 200g (60%)
Carbs:97g (29%)
of which sugar 55g
Fat: 38g (11%)
of which saturates: 14g

Calories: 1545

Sorry, not got time to post my full diet but in a nutshell, spread out over 3 meals it's been 2 x chicken breast, 1 x rump steak, mash, carrots, apple, yoghurt and a scoop of whey.

If it matters i'm male, 5'10 and 179lbs.

According to the machines in the gym I use, I burn just short of 400 cals doing 45 mins SSCV.

I'm not sure how acurate the machines are, or if I'm putting enough effort in.

It'd be nice to know what 45 mins (or 40 mins in the OP's case) SSCV should burn.

same i get around 400 cals from 50 min staying around 120-125bpm

well they are only accurate to a generic level. it depends on your base metabolic rate so everyone will vaery and hence there isn't an awful lot of point in reading too much into them. more so on high intensity

Not really, it is a fairly good ballpark figure if there is an option to enter your weight.

hmm, the machines at my gym have weight entries but in a 55min session i burn around 700 calories. My heart rate stays between 130 and 140.

I always thought they were roughly right, but surely i am not only burning 400 cals?

Might not be 100% foolproof but as a ballpark figure it sounds fairly accurate.

I wouldn't believe a thing the machine tells you. According to mine I burn 1100 calories in a 1 hour session, very steady rate.

It also measures my BF% at 19.
