raw eggs? Safe or not... - 26 June 2008 20:38
I know a few people who drink a glass of milk with two raw eggs crushed into it in the morning. Anyone on here eat raw eggs, is there much benefit?

Is it safe to do, i know a few people who swear by it and also a few who wouldnt dare try it..

You get avidin in raw eggs, I believe it stops absorption of nutrients. Thats why most people on MT don't eat raw eggs.

You will probably find more do it and are alright than do it and aren't. But I have suffered the ill effects and would never risk it again. They have less bioavailibility when raw tho (unless you buy paturised egg whites) so I would eat them cooked for this reason if nothing else. Plenty of other quick fix protein options that don't require raw egg consumption IMHO

I personally would not use raw eggs as for the same reason as dirtyvest. There is products with more protein and pose no potential risk like eating raw eggs

Raw eggs arnt brilliant for eating raw for the reasons above but in the UK if they have the lion mark on then it means they are disease free and is possible to eat them raw
