quick question on cutting... - 04 July 2008 16:40
around how many calories should one have per day when cutting? iv currently been eating around 1600 calories with plenty of protein should this be enough to stop the body from going into starvation mode and see results?

If your output is greater than 1600.

ie: base metabloic rate + whatever you burn in your activties depandant on wot u do in the day > 1600

You should lose weight off that unless you are already really light.

How much do you weigh?

If you try it for a few weeks and are losing 2ish lb's a week then its the right amount of cals for you.
Age- 18, 6ft

Bench - 130kg x1
Squat - 180kgx2
Dead - 180kg x2

No one can really answer that question for you - you'll have to work it out yourself. You'll need to know what your resting metabolic rate is, your current weight, the number of calories you need for maintenance, how many calories you expend through exercise, work, daily living etc.

For example, a few months ago I weighed 85 kilos. I worked out that my maintenance calories were around 3000 per day, taking into account my activity etc. I went on a bulk for a few months, and started consuming around 4000 calories per day, taking myself up to 95kgs. Now I am cutting I am consuming about 2500 calories, but I am also doing much more cardio than I was before.
