Back problems
can start due to lifting weights (good or bad form), genetic differences, or daily activities.
A lot of the people I know who have back problems dont lift heavy weights. Its either been an underlying problem for years, or they have lifted or done something which has caused problems (e.g. gardening).
If you lift weights or any sports, there is more
chance of a potential injury. If you do it incorrectly, the chances of getting an injury are increased.
Im no expert, but thats my view. I have had back problems for almost 6 years. First due to general exercise, and recently again partly due to weight lifting. Although the reason behind this is due to differences in my body which are out of my control. It has caused me a few problems, but I've become more aware of things, and has highlighted an important issue that needs to be resolved, as if it was left, in 20years time I would have further more servere problems. As such, I wouldnt say I've had injuries to do with my back directly, if anything, exercising has helped. I've had Knee / Hip / Glute problems too, but again, weight lifting hasnt caused them, but just highlighted them. As the direct cause has been other things I do daily.
