Stiff leg deadlift - how - 07 July 2008 13:46
Hi all, a routine that I'm now doing includes stiff leg deadlft, I cant seem to find out how to perform this exercise ( not on exrx.net or other sites ) can anyone tell me how to do it or point me to a site where it explains how to do them, I know how to do deadlifts BTW, just wondering how these stiff leg deadlifts differ.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Nice vid AK. Didn't notice what lift she was doing mind!?!

Actually that vid dose indeed show good form. However I would just deadlift the bar from the floor, as per normal, then start the lift. Why use a rack and walk back? Personally I just do em straight legged of the floor but I do have a fair amount of experince with the lift and deadlifting in general so it may not be the best way to learn the lift.

I'd Deadlift it from the floor too. Its more than likely going to be a less weight than your normal Deadlifts. Walking it back has more chance of an injury i would think.

True enough, plus why take up a bit of kit you don't need to use?

I'd seriously avoid these if you have any kind of lower back/lumbar problems. As stated before, very hard to perform correctly!

Yeah tried them the other day after watching the video numerous times & still couldnt get it right, just cant help curving my back on the lift, I would look for a alternative but it's part of frankies mass building routine and there doesnt seem tobe an alternative.

Whatever it takes !!
