What sort of weights do you shift daz?

Nice dips, 30+ at 123kg is very nice.

Will be good to follow this, get some pictures posted mate, will be great to see you come in for the show.

Think i saw one of you in general the other day, you seem to be a mass monster, this should be a popular journal.

RE: daz ball journal for the euro elite spain - 07 July 2008 23:37
Awesome to have you here Daz.

Couple of questions if you have time to answer:

Do you keep the Dymatize Elite in all the way up to the show or do you believe that it needs to be dropped from your diet a few weeks out? I know a few competitors that pretty much just live on whey until show day (I like my food too much to do that).

One of the bigger questions on this forum is whether to stay lean off-season like, say, John Hodgson, or to go the Lee Priest way and eat anything that moves, or kick it until it moves then eat it anyway.

What's your take on that - you seem to have stayed pretty lean this last year off-season - is that because of guest posing spots, or would you usually add a LOT of weight then diet it all off again at show time?

Final question - how much muscle do you think it's possible for someone to add from year-to-year - proper, in condition muscle and not just bloat or mass? Let's assume the person dabbles in most things.

Thanks,

Righty.

RE: daz ball journal for the euro elite spain - 08 July 2008 14:46
hi thanks for the ?? well with the elite what i do has the show gets closer and i start to feel that i need something inside me i start dropping a bit out at a time and say i drop out 15 g thats about 12 g of protein i will put in 4 egg whites instead and keep doing that till i stop my salts before the show.

as for staying in better shape the more i have got in to bodybuilding the more i have wanted to become the best at what i do so to me i bodybuilder is 24/7 so thats what i am trying to do look like a bodybuilder all the time not being funny people go to shows and the guest poser walks on looking like father xmas after he has ate all the mince pies i dont think that is fair to all them that are paying to go to the show yeah the show is the main thing but we all get a buzz when the pro is going to come on.

so i think that you can put better muscle on by staying leaner 1, you can see what you have not being funny putting all that fat on you dont no how you are really going to look. 2,its better for yourself long term i have a 3 year old that likes to run around on the park is no good me saying i cant its to hard. 3, its easy to diet cus your used to the food and cus your close to your weight you dont lose so much muscle so you can go on that bit bigger hope i can show you that in about 12 weeks time hope that answer your ??? oh yeah the man for condition dexter the blade jackson likes staying in shape all year round and watch this space cud be 2008 mr o i hope.

Thanks Darren - you've answered those questions perfectly.

I'm trying to stay lean this year instead of blowing up after a diet and it's tempting to ease up on the diet but the few people guiding me have said: "Stay on your pre-comp diet and just add in an extra 200g carbs a day - you'll still gain well and stay lean and no shrinking next time you diet."

Thanks for backing that up mate. I'd best go stock up on chicken breasts again.

Best of luck for the British finals this year again mate. Almost certain to be you versus the winner of the light heavies for the pro card.

Hi Daz - this will be a great journal and I will read with interest. You've obviously done comp prep a few times, so I guess your plan of action has evolved and there's no denying that it gets you in tip top shape. I'll be reading this regularly and asking you some questions as to why you do certain things, if that's ok?

1) Your diet is low carb - with the only carb source being the waxy maize starch (WMS); how long have you been on this amount of carbs?

2) Why do you choose not to consume carbs from 'proper' foods (even in small amounts)?

3) The Udos, is that just trickled onto the food after cooking?

- as an aside, would you be willing to do a formal interview for this site? If so I'll get Hazel to email you about this. Thanks

hi james i did forget to say i do take oats before my 2 nd training session with the eggs and protein powder. i do like the the low carb high protein and high fat diet seems to keep me in better shape if i take to many carbs i blow up ok if you want to look good in clothes but no good when you take them off .
i have been doing this diet since the brits just took me a bit of time to find my carb range what i normally do is 3days low 1day high and so on. as for the waxy maize i only take my carbs around training so oats before waxy after thats the only time i need them and i think waxy is a great supp if you have nt used it give it a go.

i wud love to do the interview give people some info on me hope am not to boring for you all i am a 24/7 bodybuilder i eat 68meals a week go to 9 meals sat and sunday but keep cals the same i have one cheat meal which is pizza garlic bread and the big purple one chocolate ice cream thats offseason and if not that i have mc ds breakfast pancakes i will stop boring you now james thanks for the post

I've seen this approach work well before. Interesting. Good to see some oats there too

I've used peri workout carbs with some of my clients before and many respond well to it. WMS is quite popular - not used it myself though

Interesting looking diet. I'm personally gonna give it a go myself.

Is your cardio a slow=paced affair to retain muscle or are you lucky enough to be able to hammer it with 140-150bpm stuff and not lose size?
