Washing Machines and washer/dryers - 07 July 2008 16:12
I need to buy a new washing machine but have been thinking about a washer/dryer combined. I've heard that these aren't as good and tend to be less reliable. Anyone have any idea..?

I only have space for 1 unit in my new kitchen (other space will be a dishwasher) so a combined machine would be ideal.

Am I better off just getting a straight forward washing machine and using the old washing-line in the garden for drying..?

Dont get a cheap model if you are going to get a washer dryer. I have a Bosh and had no trouble with it. I used to install white goods and found that cheaper brands often had problems

I have one in my house that I rent and found it to be very reliable - although since I've moved and have room for a washer and a dryer separately, I have a condenser version which needs no outside vents. It sits under my stairs taking up little room, plus I worked two bizarrely workout cheaper to run than a single unit.

Also I found if it was a wash to dry run cycle, you can only load the drum half full or it will not dry completely. Just a few things I have found.

my experience of them is they aren't good as driers, barely better than when a normal washer spins the clothes

as has been said John Lewis do good warranties

Can't speak for combi's as I have only ever had separates.

If you're flush, my choice would be miele. I've always had bosch and been happy.
