Daily Calorie Intake - 08 July 2008 01:48
Hi guys, if you don't quite meet your daily kcal requirement, what happens? Do you lose muscle?
I need about 4000 kcals a day and maybe get 2500 one day, 3500 another, 4000, 3000 etc, does this have a drastic effect on muscle mass, even if you manage most days to get around 3500?
I say this because I am cutting at the moment and don't want to lose muscle mass, but some days I may only get 2500-3000 but mostly I'm getting about 3500! (5 days out of 7 usually)
Any thoughts?
Any diet tips would be great too!!

what are your stats and how much cardio are you doing?

are you saying 4000 is your maintainance? in which case around 3500 a day is fine, puts you in a 500 defecit.. that along with cardio you should loose the fat

RE: Daily Calorie Intake - 08 July 2008 12:58
My stats are:
Age: 20
Height: 6' 3"
Weight: 17 stone
BF %: 15-17
Cardio: 5 times a week (2 rugby, 2 my own, 1 match)
Weights: 4 times a week

Yea my BMR is 3990 or something like that, so I just say 4000 to round it up.

I am aiming to cut BF, by having around the 500 defecit, but will having the odd day (I mean odd!) where I may only get 2500 - 3000 affect my muscle mass?

Thanks for the help!
