Curry Powder?? - 09 July 2008 07:52
This may seem a bit of sftrange question but are there any hidden nasties in Curry Powder, I mean like high in salt, damaged fats, etc.

Been using it a lot lately to spice up my stir-fry's so was just wondering!!

Didn't have on the the stuff I was using before but just bought a jar now and the ingredients are:

Corrinader seed, salt, tumeric, ginger, cumin, fenugreek, mustard, garlic powder, allspice, cayenne pepper, black pepper.

So to me looks pretty harmless but I'm no expert, is there anything above I should avoid?

How % do u guys think is salt? It is the 2nd on the list.

if you're worried about the salt maybe make up your own mix using garam masala, cumin, tumeric, a little ginger, pepper and coriander

You may find that Garam Masala has a high salt content too.
Like curry powder, it is a blend of spices.
