Carbs while lean bulking.
-
09 July 2008 08:57
Im moving from a cutting diet to a lean bulk. When dieting, I had carbs with morning, pre and post workout meals only. How should I change this when lean bulking? If I eat 6 full meals a day, should 4 or 5 of these meals contain carbs? I take it no carbs before bed. I want to keep the fat off as much as possible while adding muscle. Also, is it worthwhile having the odd low carb day while bulking?

Add carbs to some meals, perhaps increase them around breakfast and then a few other meals when your more active in the day. Monitor your weight, you will gain fat no matter how "Lean" this lean bulk is, unless your blessed...or using drugs Pics!! I wanna know what 12 stone 6ft 2 lean looks like, im also 6ft 2.
My posts are all my opinion and based on current knowledge/understanding.

Well, I eat 6 meals. So Im thinking breakfast, meal number 3, meal number 4 (pre workout) and post workout. meal number 2 and 6 ill keep carb free. On the diet I didnt mix carbs and fats in a meal. It was either carbs OR fats, Is this a good strategy or is it ok to mix them up? PS. It doesnt look great. :) Ill post them tonight.

you can either do it as you have described or just have a smaller amount of carbs in each meal its fine to mix carbs and fats.. just making sure you're getting good fats.. omega 3 etc

The above plan seems pretty good to be honest, good chance to get plenty of good fats in then on your non-carb meals

My energy levels were fine. Whenever I felt a bit low, I ate a bit of extra carbs but this wasnt often. I have a desk job so amnt very active - not sure if this makes a difference. Also, Also, comparing to previous attempts at dieting, this time I increased fat content in the diet and also ate tonnes of broccoli. Think this helped
