does this term refer to controlling the number of calories in a diet or where the calories come from ?

Fred, don't quote me out of context. In my e-mail to you, I wrote "Only in extreme cases e.g. 10P/80C/10F would fat/muscle change because protein intake is insufficient. As long as proteins and EFAs are sufficient, what makes up the rest of the Calories makes no difference to body comp if Calories are controlled."

To me this makes it perfectly clear that the expression "if Calories are controlled" refers to the number of Calories and not where they come from.
