I have the old one- will be getting an upgrade in the coming weeks. I love it- the only issue is the lack of 3g and the crappy GPS functionality but they are both addressed in the new one. Can't wait for the games too. Jim

Much to the surprise of most of you , I am not bothering Seriously , I have been running iPhone 2.0 on my 'old' iPhone for a couple of days now , it is greatly improved over the last version , and TBH I didn't feel it needed improving I have been using my second phone as a Wifi hotspot for some time now , so effectively I have 3G - the only thing I am lacking is the GPS support , now , the old iPhone has a "locate me" feature that is not very accurate ,but can put you in a pretty good rough area - When was the last time you needed your phone to tell you EXACTLY where you are ? - the only time I ever need that kind of accuracy is in the car, where I have Tomtom anyway ! The nail in the coffin for me , is that my current iPhone has an aluminium back , I really am loathed to trade that for plastic, especially considering I would be gaining very little in functionality No , I am quite happy using my old iPhone , upgraded to 2.0 , and am looking forward to using Apple new "mobile me" service , which syncs all your Computers and iPhones in realtime over the network Some of the Apps on the Appstore are cool , the iTunes remote is amazing , from anywhere in the house I can flick through my Computers iTunes library , and then play songs from the computer (you really have to experience this to appreciate how good and useful it is ! My advice to existing iPhone users is - Stay where you are , save your upgrade for the next incarnation !

I really can't get in to this iPhone business, and I'm a long term Apple user. It's just too locked down and too big for me. I don't want to be paying for extras from the store when I can get many of the apps for free. My next phone is 99% going to be the WM based HTC Touch Diamond.

I've used WM PDA's for a while, but admit to never having a WM Phone before. A few friends have them and don't seem to moan too much. I've seen an iPhone before and whilst I'll never knock it, it's not for me. I want full GPS use for the things I want it for, not just to some progs I can find in the store. If I want to run TomTom WM gives me that option. There are thousands of progs I can use to do many things that I just can't get on the iPhone. And of course, it doesn't just slip in to my pocket, it's just a touch too big for my liking. Like I say, I'm a long time Apple user, but the iPhone just isn't for me.

My advice to existing iPhone users is - Stay where you are , save your upgrade for the next incarnation ! That was pretty much my stance on upgrading ever since the spec was released. I was highly dissapointed by the spec of the new one. Until they make some noteworthy changes i will not be upgrading. 3g would be useful in some circumstances but the majority of the time i have access to a wifi connection so it doesnt really warrant an upgrade. The only thing i am annoyed about is the price of the new one! I paid a bit more only a few months ago! If anyone has got the new one for the o2 shop or cpw can they tell me if they make you sing up to the contract there and then.

I managed to get one from my local o2 shop-only 5 people in the queue. Seems there has been a major cockup as the entire o2 computer network crashed so loads of people cannot get their phones registered (including me) and they could not issue the phone numbers to the customers. All the other features work except the phoning people up part! It is a cracking phone though very pleased with it so far! It should be fully active tomorrow or Monday if they get the computers up and running.

That was in Norwich. Apparently there was a big queue when they opened but i went in about 10 and it had calmed down a bit.
