Dwayne Chambers. - 11 July 2008 22:01
I seem to make a lot of posts about Chambers but i honestly believe he is Britains best sprinter at the minute. He just got throught to the semi finals of the Olympic trials with the fastest time. I hope he goes on to win the olympic trials and gets a time in the 9's.

Here is the race from earlier:

yeah he probs will win he is a different class to the rest, but their is a few to watch out for, Marlon Devonish as always, Tyrone Edgar is a massive threat(usually fizzles come the trials and major champs), Pickering is up there and HAA is always a big time performer and is very young and can surprise a lot(hes also MASSIVE and about 19).

should be a very good final, rest of the races are naff tbh

He looked like he was running against snooker players. Still, perhaps he will win us a medal at the Olympics and we can all feel so proud.

he wont go Olympics and even if he did he would be destroyed by the top 3 tbh, their is 3 guys who are different class at the moment, 9.7's and 1 catching them, the rest arent close.

Chambers has a good chance of getting to the Olympics and if he does he certainly wont look like a fool. He has the potential and the experience and Asafa Powell has a tendency to freeze and get injured (which he just has) so i think on the medal front anything is possible.

Very sad that he got popped but its a very hard situation for him to face now. If he gets to run at the O games then it makes a mockery out of those who have had lifetime bans and been made to repsect them.

If he is permitted to run them the IOC will have to change thier drugs policy so as to remove the lifetime ban clause.

Asafa Powell can choke in a race and still beat chambers comfortable, Asafa has had a slight groin strain and he didnt bother doin the final to not risk it and he was a total idiot in his heat tonight and totally shut down to early as he always does. Hes not seriously injured, he'll race 2 wks time at crystal palace.

Chambers wont beat asafa, gay, bolt or dix. If Darrell Brown goes he wont beat him either(he fell over at their trials and was on for a 9.8x).

If chambers goes under sub 10 he wud have had a good season, which i hope he does.

Its only a BOA bylaw that is stopping chambers compete not the IOC they have no clause. Totally agree with the idea that it will make a mockery of the people that have been made to stick out their bans. IMO it is a senseless law that stops athletes competing. They have served their punishment so should be treated no differently.

I have been a big fan of athletics for many, many years. I was a big fan of Chambers when he was around before being caught. I used to say to my dad why is he that big, he was a lot bigger than other sprinters and knew there was something not right. this was before i really knew about steroids.
He has done his time, he has been allowed to compete nationally and internationall, but yet the Olympics stands in his way.
But if you go to the likes of Marion Jones, who has been done for steroids and has had a jail sentance. This is where i get confused over it.
He has done the crime, he has paid the time now let him run for his country, as someone said before he is the best we have and let him go out there and prove to the Brits.
People make mistakes in life, no one is perfect.

Go Chambers Go!
I back him all the way, but there does need to be some unified rule.

Jones in jail for lying in court.

Chambers is in the sh*t for telling to much truth, his life would be easier if he shut up, saying that, everytime he opens his mouth it gets loads of public attention.

Yeah the 100m final will be amazing, here are the 3 of em with their fastest legal time, they all look so easy.

gay 9.77
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm7Yn0imsjI&feature=related

bolt 9.72
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHMRuOXdN6I

asafa 9.74
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKnvrh0SnF8

It really is a 3 horse race aslong as asafa doesnt bottle it, he's not favourite so their should be less pressure.

Dix been injured a lot this season but hes coming into full fitness just at the right time and is the threat, he ran 9.80 wind assisted, give him another month and hopefully he will be up there, with the top 3. Very dodgey with his start, shown in this vid

yeah from Olympics, but the UK and few other countries are the only ones that have this rule. Its made by the BOA not the IOC.

Agreed, they all should have life bans.

Im still not 100% sure that all sprinters are on drugs because a lot are coming forward and having drugs test and having their samples frozen and allowing them to be tested in the future. Sayin if they get caught you can take their medals. Saying that, not all have joined this programmed and i know their still is drug cheats in the sport. I just think everyone is to easy to jump and say everyone is on PEDs because they are or they cant do what they can do.

then again i stop being naive and think if the're not on PEDs what would they be running if they was and just think tht those times are totally impossible.

I am not really fussed whether or not all/none/some sprinters are juiced up. If they are caught then they should pay the price.

BOA rules state that he is not allowed to compete in the Olympics, he was aware of this at the time/s he cheated so should be prepared to pay the price instead of throwing his toys out of his pram.
