Apparently we're less likely to be a victim of knife crime this year compared to last year. Obviously that's not the case if you read The Sun or the Daily Mail, in which case you're already dead.

One of my step dad's friends relatives(or something or other) was stabbed to death today in West Brom for no reason. The kid was 18.

Why has the guy in the white suit got a grin on his face?
A naked blond walks into a bar, with a poodle under one arm, and a two foot salami under the other. She lays the poodle on the table. Bartender says, "I suppose you won't be needing a drink." The naked lady says...

i'm surprised gordon brown's new initiative to reduce knife crime is not to legalise the sale of guns

All goverment statistics should be taken with a pinch of salt.Does anyone believe the goverment wants anyone to know the shocking state of crime in this country?.All goverment statistics from crime to unemployment are rubbish. They discount certain things to reduce figures. For example. The unemployment figures exclude People claiming incapacity benefit(over 2.6 million). If the true figure of unemployment was disclosed it would be nearer 5 million than 1 million. This country is bordering on social collapse and lawlessness. We have only ourselves to blame for voting in a weak Labour goverment. Though not me,i am a Tory.

There aren't any. Correct. Specific statistics on knife crime based on specific samples like age etc. are notoriously vague and vary greatly. My point was you will find some sources stating overall knife crime is down from a year ago, yet many people will believe from the media that it has increased by several thousand percent. People are far more willing to believe the worst of what they read. Perspective. When the crime rate shows a marked increase though I'm sure you're more than ready to believe the government statistics then.

Becasue of they way they've changed the recording of crime over the years, a true picture of the crime rate over time can be hard to judge. But if the government is using the same measure week in week out, you can get a more accurate picture. For the unemployment rate wasn't it Labour who actually changed the way it was measured when they came into power to a way that was supposedly more accuarate and painted a far worse picture? It then improved from that.

There's probably been 3 or 4 a day for years. There is probably 65 million in this country now. Sure lots of schools and estates are zoos, but in a country of 62 million there's going to be 5 knife attacks... dozens of rapes.. lots of murders... the odd serial killer. It's a great terror tactic that the media employ, whether unwittingly or not. People are now terririfed of strangers, and aids, and the muslim terror fraud, and the economy fraud, and the global warming fraud, and black kids with knives. Be afriad. Buy stuff. Take out loans. Be afriad.

According to the retard Jacqui Smith, knife crime is no worse now than it was years ago. Makes you wonder why the government is so keen today to emphasise that its new plan for tackling knife crime has been conceived over the last six months and not as a knee-jerk reaction to public and media pressure. Why bother at all if ole Jacqui is correct? I predict a message from Brown to parents to know what their kids are up to..... and a weak hint at tougher penalties for carrying knives - but still no mandatory jail sentence. In light of that, I'll get myself a knife to stab up any little tw4t who decides he wants to stab me up first.

If we disregard statistics for a moment, and take an overall opinion of todays society,do you honestly feel safer on the streets than 10 years ago?.I for one do not.And most people that i have discussed this with feel the same way.The lack of detterent for crime is a big factor IMO.Most people will not go to prison for muggings for example. I think we need a form of National Service to instill a sense of worth and discipline in todays youngsters. It's not something that i honestly thought we would need to go back to,but i can't see what else we can do to deal with todays youth. They think respect is earned with a knife. It is earned with acts of good for your society. Violence never earns my respect, only contempt.

I see that polce now erect portable metal detecters at some major train stations. Seems to me that kinfe crime benefits governments. We see the news reports and we see and experience metal detecters at train stations that we are obliged to walk through. We acquire an irrational fear of knives and people. Governments via the police and media become our protecter and parent. As does that other little state-forced sanction - school. Say goodbye mum and dad, you're no longer the master. The state of fear has you now. You can ad the bird flu fraud and the flesh eating virus to the list of tactics used to terrorize and control us.

ORIGINAL: Yohimbe We acquire an irrational fear of knives and people. I disagree with that. I take it you've never had a knife pulled on you? I have and I shat myself. Two doormen friends were stabbed in Peterborough - one in the stomach, one in the face, and a young lad was carved to pieces and died in the city years ago, too. Add to that at least one stabbing incident a day in our local paper and how can you say it's an irrational fear?

There has been no significant increase in knife crime in probably ten years. This is just the mass media's current fixation.

I saw a picture in a newspaper of a metal detector at a bus stop. They were checking 11/12 year old girls all decked out in perfect school uniforms. I guess checking white of black hoodies would of been un-pc.

How many have been stabbed in years gone by is irrelevant - it is a current as well as past problem and it's quite normal to be fearful of a blade. Thumbs-up to the media for this too - while you may view it as a simple fixation to sell papers, which it no doubt is, it MAY also just have the by-product result of getting knife-carrying tw4ts locked up, hence saving lives.

So does all this talk of knife crime make any of you more or less likely to carry one yourselves? An old guy I know from a pub I frequent has shown me the blade that he's started to carry, he's afraid and wants to be able to protect himself.
