Bad Neck/Back - 12 July 2008 11:21
My flat mate recently has been experiencing extremely bad pain in his back/neck area, but for no apparent reason. He hasn't done anything he can think of that would have caused it, it's almost like it has just happened. He now can't move his neck and just getting out of bed and moving out is agony.

He went to his doctor but he just gave him tablets without even touching his neck, which seemed pretty useless. Who can he go see to have it looked at? He mentioned chiropractor but i thought that wouldn't be suitable.

Also, any suggestions to what it might be? He doesn't do any gym training, the only exercise he gets is football on Mondays but he didn't even play this week.

A chiropractor or osteopath would be my choice and take the antiinflamatories the doc gave.

Chiropractor, then maybe a deep tissue massage.

My neck gets tight from desk work, so either my chiropractor or massage therapist works on it and loosens it up. I've had it where I have slept awkwardly, and can barely move my neck.

i had something simialr once years ago, one morning for no reason my neck was buggered, took three days off work and for about 2 weeks i had limited range of motion and pain. just slept funny on it i guess.

but if it seems more serious than that then chase a second opinion on it as you dont want to mess with the neck/spine. i know of plenty of people that have had a back injury for a while and not known about it until it gets worse. i know one guy that has a crumbled vertebrae in has t region and didnt even know until about 6 months after the incident (well, that was the only thing he could think of).
