Inreasing ROM & flexibility ? - 16 July 2008 10:28
I really don't know anything about this. I really need to increase especialy ROM around the shoulders, wrists, ankles & lower back/hips.
I could really do with some more flexability especialy in the hamstrings.

Perhaps someone could give me an example of a routine I could follow. Drewsky could you share your opinion on this aswell please

Thanks.

You just need to stretch, ideally in the morning, PWO and before going to bed.

When training with weight use the full range of movement for the exercise.

Have a look into these...

Soft tissue work - foam roller, etc...

Dynamic stretches

Static stretches

Some good information on all 3 on stronglifts.com . Search for the articles.

What are your reasons associated with needing to increase ROM/flexibility? Bear in mind that in some cases, attempts at increasing the flexibility of injury-prone joints such as the shoulder can actually lead to more injuries rather than less. Many trainers who undergo intensive stretching of certain joints report damage associated with increased ability to take heavy weights across a greater ROM than they are presently used to.

Not sure whether anyone more knowledgeable than me might be able to comment on this, but it is something to bear in mind.
