Ronnie Coleman appreciation thread - 24 July 2008 11:59
I keep seeing posts everywhere (on here and other bbing forums) which state that "Levrone is the best there ever was", "Flex should have won Mr. O" etc.

Fair enough, they were good, but they didn't look like Ronnie. Ronnie had something special; he was absolutely phenomenal; he was huge. He thoroughly deserved his wins and will go down in history as possibly the greatest bodybuilder that has ever lived.

He is an absolute monster and IMO is the best we've had so far. Fair enough, towards the end his gut grew to epic proportions, but this thread is to celebrate the amazing achievements of Ronnie and to post up any particularly flattering pics.

He's one of the most charismatic bodybuilders of all time, he's extremely strong and he has won a hell of a lot of Mr. Olympias!

He gave us the catchphrases "Yeeeeeeeeeaaaahh buddy!", "Ain't nuttin' but a peanut!", "Light weight baby!", and of course "Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder; don't nobody wanna lift this heavy ass weight!" to name but a few.

He deadlifts and squats obscene amounts of weight at obscenely low levels of body fat.

He has now retired, but I think we can all agree that at his peak he was something special (and still is IMO).

He showed us just how far the human body could be pushed, and whether you like him or not, it is impossible for your jaw not to drop when you see his picture for the first time.

Without further ado, I give to you, the winner of 8 consecutive Mr. Olympias, the one and only, Big Ron Coleman!!!

Pretty much agree with everything said - For me the thing that sets Ronnie apart from the rest is that he took things to another level , as Did Dorian in the birth of his era , as did Lee Haney at the birth of his.

Come to think of it , I think this may go some way toward understanding why I am not so taken with Mr Cutler - He is the first Mr O (during my interest in the sport) to have simply won without upping the ante a bit , of course this is a subjective view , and others may suggest that Jay has well and truly upped the game , but my take is that he hasn't

I totally agree with this comment.

I can only dream of one day summoning the courage to don the glimmering trunks of the great Ronnie Coleman.

I misquoted Big Ron? Skip to 2:43 in this video, you'll see I quoted him word for word: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ziOhn-rD7Y

And no, he doesn't point to the EZ bar and say it, he stands with two hands on the OLYMPIC bar that he is about to squat with.

Also, I'm pretty sure Ronnie doesn't say "everbody", refer to himself as a "bodybuilding", and I'm pretty sure there are pauses in his speech, which would be indicated by a comma.

If you want to be pedantic, that is
I'm a wizard of the word, that's what you heard

I think its univerally agreed that ronnie coleman on the road, is the definitive RC training video, NOT the cost of redemption. in on the road he says it as i put it.

END/

everbody

yes he says everbody

and he doesnt pause, why would he?
