8 reps is probably a good place to start and then reduce it a bit later on in the program.

I havnt read the other 60 odd pages lol

Can you summerize for me where your at and what your goals are? Or jus call me a lazy arse and Il read through all of it when I have a spare few hours lol

Did you like going down to 5 reps? I personally felt it wasnt enough and because of the increased weight on exercises my form would go worse, so had to find a middle ground between form and weight.

Il try to keep up to date with your progress, all the best

My goals were and still are strength and a bit of muscle definition. You are right 5 reps doesn't always feel as if you are doing enough.

My legs are quite strong and defined really especially calves, but the upper body is fairly weak especially chest. I can shoulder press the same as I chest press which is odd. Triceps are strong in comparison to the chest. I struggle with bench press, my 1RM is only 40kg, but then I do only weight about 60kg. My aim is to bench press 60kg by the end of the year.

I can do 5 or 6 hours of CV stuff in my job, so its probably a bit harder for me to build muscle than the average person.

I eat alot to fuel it!!!! I like eating so it suits me. If, I don't eat enough it really zaps my energy, and I need to be energetic and enthusiatic, as the class particiants are supposed to aspire to be as fit as me. We have a lot of fun too, which is half the battle.

I've been weight training since 2002, I've achieved some muscle definition and strength but progress is slow due to all the cardio. I'd like to get stronger, I don't see anything wrong with strong woman, I know woman shy away from heavy weights in general.

Hey Angel, just read the last few pages of your journal, when I have a spare hour I'll read it all

My Sister in Law is a fitness instructor and it's something I would be looking at doing in about 4/5 years time - what classes do you teach ?

Hey Angel, just skimmed through some of the pages from your journal...

First thoughts, you work too much! With teaching at 5 gyms and still trying to do weights you might run the risk to overtrain and over exert yourself, also your diet must be really well thought after as you are probably exercizing every waking hour!

Anyway good luck on the training and all the best. I'll keep an eye on your journal.

lol. youre talking to the only girl that uses the weights section in my gym so I know the feeling.

I seriously would not be able to cope with 5/6hours per day of cardio tho!

I instruct Spin Indoor Cycling, Aerobics, Step, Body conditioning, Body Pump, Body Attack, Fitness Yoga, Synergize (combined Yoga and Pilates), Pilates and Circuits.

Go for it Welshy. I've never looked back, I'm living the dream...... getting paid to keep fit.

The problem for me is because I work in a relatively small city, you get known, and I've actually got too much work on.

Hi

Thanks for your comments. I agree, I do run that risk, which I am aware of. I take quite a few holidays, where I do virtually nothing energetic to try to counteract the negative aspects.

Well done for using the weights section Ankzz. Good, you are not feeling intimidated by a male dominated area.

Your body gets used to what you do. I've been doing it for years.

Sounds very similar to my Sis In Law's classes

I do her Body Attack class on a Monday evening - it's so much fun and she picks on me big time

Do you have any injury issues doing Attack ? Attack classes are quite rare around here due to lack of instructors - according to someone at Fitpro Attack is one of the worst BTS classes for injuries :/

I love it though !

Well, feel a bit embarrassed writing up my "feeble" workouts up, as I'm so weak compared to you guys, however I will so you can have a laugh!

7Aam wake up SPIN
9.30am AEROBICS/STEP
10.45 INTERMEDIATE SPIN
11.30 WEIGHTS

1.30 AFTERNOON OFF TO GO TO DOGS TRUST VOLUNTEER DOG WALKERS APPRECIATION AFTERNOON.

6PM ADVANCED SUPER SPIN

8PM SYNERGIZE (YOGA/PILATES)

Quite an easy day for me, compared to some! I did the workout with a friend who is female and very strong, so I always work harder when I train with her.

DEADLIFTS

40kg x 8
50kg x 8
60kg x 8

70kg x 5 x 3 sets
72.5kg x 3 reps

It didn't feel too heavy but my grip went. I used to do grip training, such as rolling thunder or Farmers Walks with 16kg DBS to help my grip, but I haven't done it since August. Must start again. I have got some straps but forgot to get them from the locker at a different gym that I work at.

BULGARIAN SQUATS WITH BARBELL

Bodyweight x 10 (warm up)
20 kg X 10

30kg x 8
40kg x 8 x 3 sets

DUMBELL SWINGS

12kg x 10 x 2 sets
14kg x 8 x 1

PLANK on bodypod (don't take the p*** PK)
SIDE PLANK on body pod (each side)
LOWER BACK EXTENTIONS

Then ran out of time, quick stretch and I had to make myself beautiful (It takes a long time) ready for the Dog Walkers presentation afternoon.

There may be mistakes in this as it is nearly midnight and I should be in bed, as I have another wake up Spin class at 7am tomorrow. No rest for the wicked..........

Back from Fitness Convention now. Mentally and physicaly quite tired. Also found out 2 fellow instructors are off sick, which means more work this week! I will fit my weight training in, but may not have time to write it up or come online at all. I'll see how it goes, it's going to be a crazy week! I've already done the 7am wake up Spin, having a bit more breakfast, before I go off to my next port of call!

I have been instructing Body Attack for the shortest amount of time, because the club only introduced it last July. I get a real buzz from it. The Music is good and the energy in the room is amazing. I'm fairly fit, but I do find Attack a challenge, it certainly gets the heart rate up!

People who attend do pick up injuries if they use bad technique, mainly shin splints and calf pulls. As long as you land the heels in all those jacks and if you are really knackered take it low impact for 5 mins to get your breath back, so you don't carry on whilst compromising technique, hopefully you will remain injury free.

Potentially participants could pick up knee injuries on the plyrometric lunges too if they use poor technique. This ussually happens when people get tired. As long as you stay in control, listen to your body and use the options, I think it's a gret cardiovascular program.
