A monkey is a slang term for 500 pounds, money not weight, Big Ben is slang for ten pounds therefroe I won £490 which must be about 900 dollars.

Tried out sumo deadlifts today. I think they suit my bambi legs better. Means I can lower the bar by dropping my butt instead of having to bend my back to get the bloody thing past my knees. Any advice on these oh wise one? BTW - TPB is a vicious thing!

TPB is lovely, I won't hear a word against it. Not a fan of sumo, makes my knees ache, I wish you every success, It always looks easier, but I always found it not to be the case

TPB is merciless! Sumo swats weren't easier but definitely think they may be more suitable for my body mechanics - stumpy torso, long thighs and short shins (FFS I'm a Goddess)

Wednesday, 7th May, start 17:00

The big lads are on my usual bench so I'll warm up on the other and jump across later

Bench raw (firstly in pounds)

45 x 20
45 x 20
45 x 20
85 x 5
85 x 5
125 x 5
220 x 3
240 x 2
260 x 2
280 x 1 paused
310 x 1 paused
330 x 1 paused

Shoulder still not quite right, shirt on and onto other bench (all weights now in kilos) all paused

160 x 1 to two blocks
170 x 1 to one block
180 x 1
190 x 1

Close grip, shirt off, original bench (so back to pounds)

225 x 5
225 x 5
225 x 5

That'll do it. The 180 and 190 weren't as snappy as usual an a little trouble locking the left arm, which I have no excuses for as it is my right shoulder that is dicky. This is more a mental than a physical think in my opinion, very busy tonight and very, very noisey. Just need to get my mind right as they used to say in Cool hand Luke. Lot of sh1t going on at the moment though, it'll pass, just wish it would get a shift on End 18:15

Your form and position were lovely though Pete, you just weren't snapping it up the way you usually do on the two top sets. It was a madhouse tonight though (in a good way!).

Training when you're ****ting liquids is never easy.

Never quite that bad, always solid, just very frequent.

Always seems to be something these days

Joe is missing you very much, as indeed we all are. he is fatter (comfort eating) and is gearing toward the nationals at the end of June

I will be on the platform at Colne on the 8th, as I need the experience and to erase the memory of the abortion that was the British.

Thanks for poppin' in Young Boar, it's been a while.

Pete, in another thread a week or so back you suggested that even unequipped lifters use knee wraps most of the time. I can definatfly see the sense in this. How would you work them in and out during the build up to an unequipped comp? Would it be a simply be a case of phasing them out a few weeks out from the comp?

Pretty much, even people like me don't wrap for every set but may do five weights raw, then five weights wrapped, just alter this from 5 / 5 to 6 / 4, 7 / 3, 8 / 2, 9 / 1, 10 / 0 adjusting poundages accordingly. Personally I am not a fan of heavy raw sqauts, so I have never actually done this as I will never again squat raw

Day off today, car serviced, so early start

Deadlift, raw, all weights in pounds

135 x 5
135 x 5

485 x 3
535 x 3
565 x 3
585 x 3
525 x 3 + 3 (3 singles and then 3 top halves from just below the knee)*
485 x 2 + 3 (2 singles and then 3 top halves from just below the knee)**

T bar rows

50 x 10
75 x 10
100 x 10
125 x 10
150 x 10

* almost died after this set, or at least felt like I was, very hard work this was

Very hot tonight, Big Phil did some bodybuilding, and Wigan looked handsome and sweaty. That'll do end 16:00. Goat boy plays out tonight, Louise missed last week, and so must be punished. Everyone's a winner Louise likes to be punished

Some good numbers there Pete.

If you fancy a little chuckle mate, take a quick peek at my journal, about 5 posts from the end.
