Nice work Pete, you seem to be making some good progress already in this Journal. Keep up the work bro.

Where is it you train?

Monday 4th April

Back, start 16:55

Deadlift:
70k x 12
155k x 8
195k x 5
230k x 3
252.5k x 1
252.5k x 1
252.5k x 1
195k x 5

dumbbell concentration curl 20k x 10 x 3

End 17:55 The singles were slow but sure, heavy but not too heavy, long way to go yet but I'm getting there.

Dodgeball, I train at Cosgroves in Atherton, right outside the railway station, if you know it, come to think of it, it's right outside the railway station whether you know it or not.

Wednesday 6th April,

Chest, start 16:55

Flat bench
20K x 20
70K x 12
102.5K x 8
125K x 5
140K x 3
160K x 1
160K x 1
160K x 1
125K x 5

End 17:40

Very happy with this tonight, 160K is a tad over 350 lbs, so for good form, raw, drug free lifting, things are getting heavy. But these were three good singles, no problems, no worries, and confidence is boosted for next time. It doesn't take much to make me happy.

Saturday 9th April, under the revised schedule today is squats, I've never squatted on a Saturday before and it concerns me slightly about doing such a brutal workout so early in the day, but with enough nosebag inside me, it should be just a matter of getting my mind right.
6.00am 2 x ready brek, protein drink, fruit
7.30am 3 low fat yogurt, 1 piece fruit
8.30am 3 low fat yogurt, 1 piece fruit
9.30am 3 low fat yogurt, 1 piece fruit
10.30am 3 low fat yogurt, 1 piece fruit

Start 12.15

Squat:
70k x 5
70k x 5
120k x 5
160k x 3
200k x 3
232.5k x 5
232.5k x 5
232.5k x 5
232.5k x 5
232.5k x 5

End 13:45

Long time today. Hard work, by the time I'd finished I looked like I'd been swimming, took ten minute rest periods between the heavy sets, but there never any doubt I would do the five sets. So all in all very pleased with the whole thing, plus it's another boost for the revised schedule. Still early days yet though, but so far so good. Another piece of good news is on the way into the gym I weighed myself and tipped the scales at 128 kilos, which is 20 stone in old money.

By the bye, went home and watched the racing, which involves lying on the couch for several hours, when I got off the couch I could hardly bluddy walk, legs are ruined, specially just over the knees. Still it all adds to the smell of burning martyr.

Monday 11th April

Chest, start 17:00

Flat bench:
20k x 20
70k x 12
102.5k x 8
125k x 5
140k x 3
162.5k x 1
162.5k x 1
162.5k x 1
125k x 5

Not a patch on last time's performance when the bar almost leapt of my chest, but three good solid single and my arse stayed on the bench for all three so no problems there. Onwards and upwards.

Still in from the night before Jon ? If only life were so simple, fresh supplys are required constantly, there's seemingly no end to it, which is just as well as hunger is a terrible thing.

Nice work on those last squats. Have they got any decent equipment for working on grip where you train, york plates/thick bars in particular? I'm just down the road from you if you live in tyldesley.

Well yeah deadlifts give sufficient grip workout for you to be able to keep hold of the bar for all other excersises, I just enjoy (attempting to...) taking it beyond that.

I live in little hulton but train at sportlife in walkden, It's not the best atmosphere but it's got all the right equipment. I definitley want to try out some other gyms soon.

I've been training 4 years on and off, started when I was 15, did 2 years consistantly then was on/off until about 2 months ago.

Yeah Paul's still here I think, either less or on different days than he used to though. Maybe they threw him out for choking everyone with his warm up spray :p.

This is the only place I've bothered with, there's Total Fitness across the road, I was going to join there when I was 16 but they said they wouldn't let me squat/deadlift, I wasn't too impressed. I'm driving now though so the travelling isn't a problem.

Are you at cosgroves as well?

Not any more. I trained there with FP for a few years, but needed to do more heavy OL work. I'm split between South Manchester and Addlington at the mo (Which is about 10/15 mile in either direction )

Wednesday 13th April

Back, start 17:00

Deadlift:

70k x 12
157.5k x 8
197.5k x 5
232.5k x 3
255k x 1
255k x 1
255k x 1
200k x 5

Ez cable curl:

35k x 10
45k x 10
55k x 10

End 18:10

The third single took a bit of doing, but it went up alright, a few light curls and Fat Pete's off for nosebag, nothing to get exited about tonight but a good wormanlike, bread and butter sort of workout, but, most important of all, whilst not actually breaking any pots, progress was made. As tesco like to say, every little helps

Good point SB, I always have a spotter, but having no regular partner I have to use whoevers there, granted it usually one of four, depending on the day, but I always take the bar off myself, and they are only there to help if they absolutely have to, but I consider it madness to bench near max weights without a spotter.

There seems to be some confusion over the term "nosebag". According to Fat Pete and the dictionary a nosebag is a bag for food hung on a horses head. Hence it is a slang term for food. Now the interesting bit, what did you lot in general and Jonnymills in particular, think I meant ? Just thought I'd clear that up.
