140kg is an excellent lift - gear or no gear. So what if some guys do it naturally. You dont compete so your not exactly cheating!!! Think there's a 150 in the tank during this cycle mate? I'm sure there would be if you went for it at the start of one of your sessions

Heres hoping mate, Im game for it anyway. 145 is getting hit up next week defo, I always do my beching first and skip up the weight with single reps if Im going for a PB. Im looking forward to it already. Legs or shoulders today dunno which, I'll wait and see how I feel.

For some reason I reckon 140+kg is a good bench for a natural and 180+kg is a good bench for a gear-boy. This is based on my observations of various people I have known who either use or don't. Neither is very easy to achieve and should take a good few years to get to. That's what I reckon anyway.

aye Stef flat bench, 1 rep full range of movement, i.e from touching your chest to your arms locked out above you.

Yep, He rested it on his chect for 5 mins before pushing it back up.. He's not a powerlifter so what does it matter!

I was asking a perfectly reasonable question. Plug1: I also wanted to ask if you've got any decent spotters at your gym, or do you sometimes end up with someone helping you when you could actually have got the lift on your own? I get really upset when (very rarely) that happens to me.

Tom our gym is like a wee community, every ones sound, anyone whos spoting always asks when you want help. I wont even have help on the lift off as my view is if I cant lift it off Im not even trying it. but yes sometimes if Im in early you get the odd new guy who grabs the bar as soon as you break a sweat and that pi55es me off BIG time, total waste of a lift imo. With regards to the pause I would say no, no pause at all, lower it to my chest and then power it back up ASAP. Its not a comp, Im only interested in how much weight is travellign vertically.

We're talking maybe 1% of all people who train with weights press over 180kg. I've seen it done, but it's rare.
