doms isnt always an indicator of good training. go by your progress both in the mirror and poundages.

bigdeadweight doms isnt always an indicator of good training. go by your progress both in the mirror and poundages. DOMS isn't always an indicator of good training because it is in fact NO indication of 'good training'. Suffering or not suffering from DOMS is no indication to how intense or how good or how effective your training was, and although not proven (the exact cause/s are still largely a mystery) it has been theorised to be caused by eccentric contractions.

the general consensus is that Doms is caused by free radical damage (the muscles rust) and have no bearing on microtrauma or hypertrophy. However, if you want to have Doms in your back (don't know why you would, apart from legs I find it the most debilitating), you should develop the mind muscle connection (learn to squeeze the lats and retract the scapulae). Often this requires using less weight. Also, as mentioned above focus on the lengthening the eccentirc contraction. As a side note, the lats cannot fully contract if the spine is in a merely neutral position. Therefore on pulldowns and other exercises push your chest up as you contra\ct, which should cause a slight lordosis in your lower back. sel

supersaint007 dont know why i just never get any back or bicep doms after training do with every other training session but never when i do back or biceps just wondering if im doing anything wrong? I just noticed your thread...I posted one earlier about no doms in my shoulders but the consensus seems to be that it plays no part in growing...as long as your increasing the load (progressive overload) then the workout is fine.
