anyway theres a club near me does kickboxing and mma, decent club by all accounts, i really want to get into it, never done kickboxing but willing to learn, done a bit of boxing and judo when younger, any advice on fitness as im currently not fit at all. should i get fit first or jump straight in and get fit while im doing it.

also mma wrestling etc. i love this, would really like to get into it - anyone got advice on this - anyone started this later in life - would love to aim to fight in it as an ambition of mine.

Throw yourself straight into it. More and more people are getting into MMA. There isn't really anything you can do fitness wise to prepare for it anyway.

If your keen and train hard you could have interclub and/or amatuer matches within 6 months.

why train at home without proper tuition when you can be getting it straight from the start?

              30!!!!! FFS, just do it...

and don't worry about getting fit first as regardless of how fit you are, if it's a good club you should be coming out of each session feeling like you've been hit by a bus.

Please don't use fitness as an excuse to yourself, I made the same mistake and regret...

I'm 33 and started MMA in July of this year. Loving it although having a 6 week layoff due to bad ankle ligament injury. Agree that you can't really prepare ahead for the fitness. No matter how fit you are MMA training will get you fitter. We usually start each class with some pummeling followed by 5-10 minutes of really intense cardio. And I mean intense. No matter how well conditioned you are you never seem to get used to it and it always pushes you to the limit!

                    Quinny,

Just go for it mate. I started Muay Thai some 6 years ago and I'm now 33. The cardio wasn't easy when I started but now dropped to 15 stone and done a few interclub fights.

                    Good luck mate

Go for it mate, as long as you have the motivation to train hard then you will succeed.
I would jump straight into it, you'll soon get fit enough. If  you  just sit around and wait to get fit you'll never feel ready.
