Can anyone help me with this??, i have been following a strict bulking diet but i am struggling with what to eat just before bed. I have seen in some reports that porridge is good but in other reports i see that you need to consume protein prior to bed, so any tips????

I think a slow release protein seems to be a popular choice. Cottage cheese is a good option.

most people seem to drink a whey shake with milk or eat cottage cheese before bed.

Quark or MP instant milk protein for me at the moment. Only think of eating porridge before bed if your carb loading or training v early.

If your going to have carbs maybe keep it small/light. If you've not got a problem with lactose cottage cheese is brill, if you do, maybe stick with milk protein concentrate or milk protein isolate which has lower levels of lactose.

Casein protein shake would be better than whey for slow release - I prefer just to have a small bowl (125g) of cottage cheese

I wouldn't be opposed to eating some oat based carbohydrate before bed if you're looking to add mass. Hot milk and a handful of oatcakes works quite well and shouldn't keep you up.

Cant eat cheese because of the lactose. Before bed id have either 3 eggs and toast or a shake mixed with oats.

Quark is the way! low fat and low salt. Some low fat cottage cheese has a very high salt content.

Any slow realease protein, whey+milk or cottage cheese. I always thought taking carbs before bed just went to fat storage.

Stick with porridge first thing in the morning, before bed a shake with milk is great. Cottage cheese is also a popular choice, keeps the body ticking over.

"i have been following a strict bulking diet..." There's your problem. As long as your diet contains enough proteins, slowly absorbed carbohydrates and Essential Fatty Acids, eat whatever you want (except for man-made trans-fats), monitor your rate of weight gain and adjust accordingly.
